It’s a shame that they keep messing with it all. The first posters pretty much recreated the album cover which surely has the most recognition. Unfortunately it doesn’t tell you what it’s about, show off the amazing set or gorgeous cast. What you gonna do?

Personally I like the new look. Slightly darker - less ethereal and more hellish. This is reflected in the lighting (more purples and dark washes). And for those who disliked it so much, less of CB rolling around on the floor. Even the choreography feels tighter, though I still don't like it. This is one hell of a cast - huge amount of talent on that stage!

Definitely looks more 'musical theatre' (if thats a thing) - than the original.

Definitely looks more 'musical theatre' (if thats a thing) - than the original. They are trying to sell a love story. Females are the primary ticket buyers in a straight couple or family (there has been much research on this) and they clearly want to sell the couples and the fun here.

I liked the old artwork as it was very reminiscent of the albums and I think it captured the "crazy" of the show more than this, but maybe they feel they are already selling to that audience and want to appeal to a different spectrum? As showtoones said, selling the love story.
Anyway I'm already sold, I want to get back very soon! I think it's been asked before but what days is Andrew Polec on? I'd like to see him again.

Andrew and Christina are both on holiday next week. They have only published Andrews's Strat schedule for the following week of the 23rd July so maybe it's only confirmed a couple of weeks in advance (although I have noticed the dates are not matching so think the schedule is right just the dates have not been amended:
Monday 16th - Andrew Polec Tuesday 17th - Andrew Polec Wednesday 18th MATINEE - Jordan Luke Gage Wednesday 18th - Simon Gordon Thursday 19th - Jordan Luke Gage Friday 20th - Simon Gordon Saturday 21st MATINEE - Andrew Polec Saturday 21st - Andrew Polec

Nope, that is the old faulty list from the Bat website, where the dates should be 23-28 July . Andrew and Christina are still on holiday today, back on Monday. Though judging by next week's list, they (or at least he) are off to do that promotional thing in Germany as he's also off Wed-Fri, then back NEXT Saturday, right in time when I'm back to see it.
PS: Did anyone go and see Eve Norris as Raven this week? I would have loved to see all the understudies and alternates together this week, but stuck on the wrong side of the channel...

Why has there been no extension announced yet? It seems it’s getting awfully late to put a new block on sale...

Why has there been no extension announced yet? It seems it’s getting awfully late to put a new block on sale... I’m also wondering this. I REALLY hope it does extend. Last couple times I’ve been it’s been much busier. I guess need to be hopeful a Christmas show isn’t after the Dominion. Can anyone remember how far in advance shows like White Christmas and Elf were announced??!

I'll be intrigued to see how it does over the Summer, but I do think after Christmas that drop off buisness is gonna be huge with no tourists about. I think it will do a year then peace out.

Saw the matinee this afternoon, pleasantly surprised as I thought I would hate it, but it was fab! Buzzing energy
Incredible staging, rarely see something so innovative in the West end.
Also meatloaf himself was there today in person, in a box! He waved at the interval and at the end.
However the real star of the show for me was Christina's wig! It is so pretty, I'm still thinking about it. Slay!

Not sure it was the show for me, but the energy was incredible, and some amazing performances too.

I am baffled by the extension, it is not selling well mid-week, but as others have said if the rent is being paid that suggests that nobody else wants to fill the Dominion at the moment and maybe Bat isn't making a loss.

It seems optimistic, based on what I've heard about sales, but also it doesn't seem like a long enough extension to be one of those emergency "quick, announce a long run, let's see if enough people want to book miles ahead to keep it alive for now" extensions. Maybe they're looking to capture the Christmas present crowd?

Great news, pleased about the extension. It's been much busier last month or so - not sure how much due to Summer holidays and tourists and how much due to word of mouth and increased popularity.
I remember when Half A Sixpence opened audiences weren't amazing, but it was a slow burner and they gradually increased. Economics don't seem to give many shows the chance to do this but it is good when it happens!
I guess we can now assume that also a Christmas show wasn't after the Dominion - and that will have helped Bat!

I'm with Dom here, a) very happy about the extension, b) thinking that it's a mix of more tourists in town, end of the football world cup and good buzz and c) that shows deserve a few months to grow and for word of mouth to spread. This forum has alread trash-talked so many other shows - Kinky Boots wasn't given half a year to life when it first opened, same with 42nd Street and both enjoyed respectable runs.
And this may be a fan speaking, but I also don't think sales are THAT bad considering the size of the Dominion - if this was playing at a medium-sized house, it would often be playing to capacity. They must know their numbers are decent, otherwise they wouldn't embark on a big US Tour soon.
I hope that they'll pick up more steam once the heatwave is over and more local people are considering theatre again, so that it will make good money over the autumn and then survive the weak months Jan/Feb to at least run one full year. Opening in April was pretty insane just before the summer, but who would have expected this kind of long-lasting heatwave?
