I am surprised we’ve got a new production so relatively soon after the Bartlet Sher production was over here

It's gonna be horribly cheap though isn't it 😂
I'll be livid if Nikolai has Eliza sat on scaffolding pretending to be Covent Garden. In fact, I might stop the show 😂

In fact, I might stop the show 😂 See this is what makes this fascinating to me cause I can’t see how you can justify doing this show in the curve house style. I feel like this has to have a bigger budget than normal

I know I'll end up booking this because it's one of my favourites but I can't say the artwork is doing anything positive for me.

Hear me out: do you think he's going to do a "modern" adaption of it into current day London? That font looks a lot like graffiti and it would save them money.

I don't think the estate would let him if I'm honest - Liz Robertson is very involved as Lerner's widow and they're very selective in what they will and will not let people do to it (hence why it always runs at the full three hours without any cuts)

Well, I wasn't overly in love with the Coliseum production in 2022 (although I heard the tour was an improvement). Maybe this one will be better?

Why would they do this? They don’t have 10p to rub together and this isn’t a show you can do on a shoe string.
Ascot will be by Primark.
Ugh. Pass.

Travel a bit further to Leeds and watch the opera north version in may at the playhouse. If anything is to go by after watching Oliver there recently their production will be far superior. (I bet)

I believe Mr Foster directed a production that went to Asia quite a few years ago, so he has had some experience with it in the past.

Choreography by Joanna Goodwin Set designed by Michael Taylor musical direction by George Dyer Main takeaways form Curves season preview Nikolai stated it will be very ‘set heavy’s sad day for fans of bare stages with one set piece. There also imagining Higgins and Pickering as younger than typically cast (although this is very early stages)

You mean they're actually gonna have a set? Eliza won't sing I could have danced all night on scaffolding?
THANK YOU JESUS

I mean it's still gonna be directed by Nikolai so I won't get excited, but an actual set as opposed to scaffolding sounds good

Excited there's even talk of a set because that was a bit of a worry.
Hasn't Higgins been cast younger recently with the Sher production anyway? Xavier was early to mid 40s doing the tour I think and Hadden-Paton was only late 30s when he opened on Broadway. Would be interested to see how a younger Pickering works though.

Was actually going to revive this thread this morning asking if there was any news/rumours on casting! All I will say at the moment since it’s still very much rumour is that this person is currently in a long running west end show
