I'll have about 45 mins to grab a bite near the theatre, any suggestions? Other than McDonald's...

The kitchen there - in the basement - is pretty good.
You'll need the 45-minutes to work out which gender you are for the loo.

I'll have about 45 mins to grab a bite near the theatre, any suggestions? Other than McDonald's... We find Sloane Square in that odd area of not really having anything much unless fancy/pricy. The RC's own Kitchen is good but can be very busy especially with shows on upstairs and downstairs. Get there early if you want to sit and eat.

Maroush on Beauchamp Place is my go to. The downstairs cafe bit, not the upstairs restaurant.

There's definitely a few interesting places near the Royal Court but not necessarily 'quick eats'
If you don't mind spending a bit and want some vegetables then there's an Ottolengi on the opposite end of the square on Pavilion Road
Others that I like
- Vardo, Duke of York Square (a branch of the Caravan group so nice small plates and good coffee if that's your thing) - Colbert, Technically quick because it's next door
If you really want to go fast there's places like Pret and Itsu a 10 minute walk heading West on the King's Road.
My vote would be for Vardo!
Enjoy the show!

Seconding Vardo. The pizza is great and I find that the staff in any of the Caravan chain are uniformly lovely. And no, I don’t work there 😹

I feel this! every time I go to the RC I have the same issue and end up at Itsu. However last time I was in the area I tried the lebanese chain restaurant in york square Comptoir Libanaise and recommend it, it's fairly quick and makes a nice change from Itsu or the RC food.

I like Comptoir Libanais, too, but it's not cheap so I'd only visit a branch for an occasional meal out as a treat, not for pre-show dining. Hardly any of the major chains seem to do offers now and at best set menus which end at 5 pm and aren't available Fri-Sun, etc. I know it's due to rising costs in every area, but inflation must also have affected people's ability to afford to eat out, so I'd have thought there was a potential compromise, ie offer a more affordable deal and maybe regain some lost business or boost this early evening. And once upon a time I'd have suggested the restaurant in nearby John Lewis (Peter Jones), where it used to be possible to get a decent hot meal quite late, but they now seem to shut down quite early, though of course without advertising this, let alone the time. Years ago I used to enjoy eating downstairs at the RC but it has long since grown too trendy and expensive - not to mention too noisy, dark and overcrowded.
