What other anniversaries and expiry of copyrights are imminent ? It used to be more common to mark them than it is now - as I remarked elsewhere the 400th anniversary of Moliere’s birth went largely unmarked in 2022. At one time the NT might have marked the Austen anniversary in some way but one assumes they will deliberately ignore it this time - as noted above these occasions are potential money spinners for regional theatres. Underdog- the other Brontë www.nationaltheatre.org.uk/productions/underdog-the-other-other-bronte/If the National can see the appeal in doing a play bout the Brontë sisters let’s hope they can find something to do about Jane Austen. Has a play about Jane Austen been written?

Interesting historical artifact, an unpublished biography by Jane Austen's brother Frank (who served under Admiral Nelson at Trafalgar). A machine will probably be used to do this in the near future but in the meantime volunteers are wanted to transcribe it www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-hampshire-68888020
