I half-remembered that we already have a thread for a new KT Tunstall musical, but that's for Saving Grace.
She's churning them out faster than Elton John!

Is this definitely planned to be pre-west end? If so, I would rather wait to see it in London but I am intrigued.

Is this definitely planned to be pre-west end? If so, I would rather wait to see it in London but I am intrigued. The Churchill is closer than London from my home town and I visit regularly. Most touring productions do okay but I don't think any musical has previously had a two week run there. They will be hoping plenty of people will travel from or beyond London to see it first. Bromley South is less than than 20 minutes by train from Victoria and the theatre is about a 7 minute walk up the road. A walk from the free car parking ( after 6pm) we use takes about 10 minutes.

Oh so this is different to the one that ran Off-Broadway a few years ago then? I remember Amy writing the book for that too but it was a jukebox type. Might well check this out. Was obsessed with the film (and subsequent TV show) when it came out.

One of my favourite films believe it or not, so if this is an original score I will definitely be there.
The idea of the jukebox version in the US… no thank you.

Seen a few posts on social media about casting this morning. Has there been an official announcement yet?

I haven't seen any announcements about casting for this yet, so I imagine they're waiting until they're a little closer to opening?

I saw adverts for this all over buses and bus stops in Bromley when I went there last weekend but not a thing about it outside the Churchill, I can’t think it’s selling that well without anyone knowing who is going to be in it?

Opening Monday. From a google search I see there has been a Monday to Thursday £20 best seat offer through several ticket agencies which ended on 6 February.
I usually find out about these things either here or through an email but this one has passed me by. It's not currently on Today Tix either.
Since I last checked the circle has been removed from sale and the two Thursday matinees cancelled but there's good availability in the stalls for most performances.
Anyone know of any current offers ?

Did anyone here see the first show of this run yesterday?

K T was on radio 2 this morning. It appears the run at Bromley is a sort of workshop. No West End run has been agreed yet but that's what they are hoping for.

Just got an email saying next Thursday’s matinee performance has been cancelled. I assume it’s due to lack of ticket sales?
Will hold off rebooking as I had bought that ticket in an online deal and not ready to pay £30+ for an unknown quantity just yet.
Intrigued to hear feedback on here.

They were very late notifying of you that, no weekday matinees when I looked last week to book next Thursday's previously-available matinee I was there tonight. Found act 1 a bit of a drag, too many similar songs and scenes, and short on the comedy. Act 2 much better. Could have a successful run at the Other Palace but don't think it's strong enough for the West End at present. Started 7.35, ended 9.55. Lots of small groups entered together, suspect a fair number were complimentary on top of the £20 offer, circle closed, stalls about 80% full.

I didn’t go last night but I’m going tonight so shall let you know how it goes :-) I enjoyed it, also thought the second act was better than the first. For most of the cast it’s their U.K. debut having done a fair few things in America / Canada. Think it could do another small run somewhere else like the Donmar or the Other Palace. Was told it was essentially a work in progress but didn’t come across like that at all :-)

I saw the matinee today and really enjoyed it. The cast is strong I thought, really good choreography. It was fun!
I don't know if it's because there have been tweaks since the posters above have seen it (they make it clear it's a work in progress and changing every day before it starts), but I didn't have the same concerns about feeling the first act dragged.
It was busy, the circle was definitely open, but I was in the 2nd row of the stalls so I couldn't say for sure how busy.

Really enjoyed this and can’t wait to see it again soon - hopefully!
They made it clear it was a work in progress but it didn’t feel like that at all. Emma Flynn was expert casting and she proper channelled Alicia Silverstone.
Well-known comedy moments in classic films don’t always translate well on to stage but actually this was directed very nimbly. Even to the point of not running a carbon copy of the ‘ugh, as if!’ moment.
Keelan McAuley was excellent as Josh and Tunstall/Slater have given him some great numbers to perform.
The staging and set was brilliant and this feels like the next Legally Blonde in the making. I’d love to hear some of the score back.
Side note - I don’t know if it’s only me but local theatre audiences seem even worse behaved than West End audiences these days. I’m all for opening theatre up etc but recent experiences here and Wimbledon have seen constant rustling and munching from parents and their kids. It’s bad in London but what on earth is going on in our regional theatres?! Took some of the shine off the night and didn’t compel me to go back to Bromley in a hurry…

www.thecluelessmusical.comI had heard last year that this was rumoured for the Trafalgar but it has been nice to get some plays in first.
