I had a lot of fun here last night. The story is very basic (girl falls in love, falls out with her mum, learns to play piano), but the music is mostly great. I absolutely adored the arrangement for Girl on Fire. And the Finale of New York State of Mind was super energetic. The weak book (especially for the dad character) can kind of be overlooked because of it. I must mention a standout performance by Kecia Lewis - the heart of the show in every way and some breathtaking vocals.

Hoping to see this and Suffs, Great Gatsby when I return later in the year, just couldn’t fit in every show!!
