I hope it keeps going, but it is a huge venue to fill.

I don’t know why they keep putting it in huge venues (in London). It could be a long runner, without names, in small-medium theatres.

I really don’t know why everyone thinks that the Dominion is a huge venue for Sister Act. Yes it’s bigger than most West End theatres but I think it is a good theatre to host the show. Besides it’s not as big as the Eventimn Apollo.

I can’t remember how well it used to fill the Palladium back in the day? The ten or so times I went (extreme comfort show in my late teens!). I don’t recall it being cavernous, but was front to middle stalls every time apart from when Whoopi came in and had to settle for circle then.

I just think as long the stage is big enough for the production then I really don’t mind where the production is. Also since tonight is the last night for the cast recording does anyone think we’ll might get an announcement on the release date soon? I hope we don’t have to wait that long for it.

I just think that’s far too big for musicals.

I think the point is that the stage at the dominion is too big for this particular production of sister act.
The palladium was the perfect venue for it originally as it used every inch of the stage and it's capabilities.
This production would be more at home in a 1000 seat house rather than a 2000+ one.

Saw Sister Act this afternoon and the sound was way better than Hammersmith! I felt like the jokes landed better as well. The Dominion was packed and the show had a well deserved standing ovation.
Beverley knocks it out the park again as Delores and I would happily pay to see her sing the phonebook....she is Fabulous Baby!
I liked Ruth Jones as Mother Superior and was surprised by her singing, it was great to hear "Here within these walls" sang rather than spoken! She had lots of fans in the audience with a large Welsh crowd, including a gentleman next to me who had been at school with Ruth!
I notice they have cut "How I Got The Calling" and Sweaty Eddie is still known as "Steady Eddie".
Was a good fun production and exciting for the cast recording.

I was in tonight and really enjoyed it- Lesley Joseph was off but her cover was excellent.
As an aside, I’d forgotten that the Dominion charged £1 to borrow a booster (youngest was with me). I wonder why that is, esp as most theatres we’ve been to over the years haven’t charged anything.

Lori Haley Fox is brilliant as Mary Martin so I would imagine she would be great as Mary Lazarus (though I’m still surprised that Anne Smith isn’t first cover since she played her on the tour).

I saw this last night and the energy was unreal. Signs up saying the performance was being recorded, not sure if that’s just a leftover or if they’re still doing it, but every single person seemed to be going for it as though singing for posterity. Beverley Knight is fantastic of course, with the only down side being that I’m not sure how anyone can follow that performance. I find myself reminded of seeing Billy Porter as Lola and thinking it was just on a whole different level, and no Lola has quite worked for me since. I saw this at the Apollo (shudder) and although I was roughly the same distance from the stage it felt so much bigger. I don’t know how it feels from further back but the sound was all- enveloping and just huge. I probably won’t get back to this one but really wish I could!

The recording was still happening until yesterday, although I imagined they completed all the singing bits with Mary Lazarus seeing that Lesley was off yesterday.

Beverley has never quite matched Patina or Cynthia for me.

Huge revolve from which scenery appeared, plus massive sets that flew in and tracked across the stage. This production just can't compete in terms of scale. Still, at least it's not that dreadful actor musician production directed by Craig Revel Horwood from a few years back. That was a prime example of how to ruin a good musical.

Oh god, that one I wished I'd left at the interval. Production was awful in general and I couldn't understand a word Alexandra Burke was singing.
I do wish I'd seen Patina in the role, as what I've heard of her is great.

I never seen the original production but I seen videos on YouTube and it always looked so fun. I love this current production of Sister Act because it was the first one I’ve seen of the show but I do love both productions in my opinion. But I do agree with the actor musician version. I love Craig Revel Horwood but looking at the videos on YouTube I’m so glad I didn’t see it. I think this production did in a way manage to bring the musical back to its former glory but I know it’s not the original. Alexandra did sound a bit pitchy as well with the videos I watched but I’m willing to give her another go at it seeing this is a new production.

I didn’t enjoy the original Palladium production as much as I thought I would. I saw it quite late on and Patina was really struggling vocally. Perhaps it was just a bad night. I did see a production at the Aberystwyth Arts Centre in around 2014 that featured Jenny Fitzpatrick as Deloris, Jodie Jacob’s as Mary Robert and Lori Haley Fox as Mother Superior. Now that was a fun production - the cast were excellent!
