Where it could go? A lot of suitable theatres aren't available.

Does the UK need another revival of it?
Much as I love the piece...

I don't think Joshs name carries as much weight here as it does NYC. Assuming he would come with it. Adelphi maybe if Back to the future has slowed down (but no obvious sign of that).

I'm sure the production does want to come here as it's got a strong cast and creative team (even if Mrs Lovett does sound like a cross between Moira Rose and Barbara Windsor) and it's one of Sondheim's more popular titles with the general public, but lets take this with a bucket of salt due to the source...

I'd be surprised if Groban wanted to re-up for a transfer after it closes on Broadway, but perhaps having a long enough break might be an incentive. Honestly though, nothing about this production is so special that it screams "this has to transfer." Besides the joy of hearing a large orchestra playing the score and Groban' gorgeous vocals, I found the show unremarkable other than a few brief moments.

It’s a terrible production, no thanks to this.

Honestly, why? The last revival was so good and this one is so vanilla.

Even more importantly please NOT Annaleigh Ashford. That casting really would make me not want to go and I've seen practically every London production of Sweeney

I also don't think British reviews and audiences would be as kind to her interpretation/accent

I absolutely adore Sweeney, having seen it in Twickenham with David Bedella about a decade ago now. I’d welcome any chance to see it on such a grand scale.
Agree about AA though. As much as I love her, she shouldn’t come to the West End with that accent…
Lea Salonga please.

Jamie Lloyd wants to do a revival so perhaps we'll get that instead?

Jamie Lloyd wants to do a revival so perhaps we'll get that instead? A black stage. The barber shop is just a series of chairs on stage. The pies are a metaphor. Mrs Lovett is played by a child.

Granted, I've only listened to the cast album, but I found the new Broadway production terribly boring. At least a Jamie Lloyd revival would be exciting! And possibly no chance for JG nor AA to reprise their roles, which would be a plus

Barefoot, lining up behind chairs in rows. I wonder exactly happened to Jamie Lloyd at primary school anyway? If his next “set” features the “apparatus”, semolina or answering a register then my suspicions will be confirmed. Only joking of course, he’d never introduce anything new.

Lea played the role in the Philippines at a time I was living in Australia, and I was so tempted to fly to Manila just to see her in the show.

Jamie Lloyd wants to do a revival so perhaps we'll get that instead? Hang on for 15 years and let's have Tom Francis do this

You just know that if it did transfer to London they'd half the size of the orchestra which totally defeats any reason for doing it.

Maybe the Jake Gylennhal rumours are actually about London and not broadway.
I know, one can dream. He would certainly be better box office here.
