Anyone else going to this? For me, The Yard is a bit of a pain to get to but I really like James Fritz's work and the Cleveland Street Scandal is a fascinating story. And the first production shots look interesting. Looking forward to it.

I will be. Saw The Crucible there, which Jay Miller also directed, a few years back and found it weird and wonderful.

Forgot to follow up on this - I enjoyed this, although ultimately found it slight. The acting is pretty great all-round, and there's a keen sense of fun throughout (an exciting 'opening credits' introduces us to all the characters and sets the tone quite nicely, with almost panto vibes). I did find the seats quite uncomfortable after a while. But if you want a fun theatre night out, worth a trip to The Yard.

I enjoyed this. It gave me early 'Operation Mincemeat' vibes, in that someone had found a great story and wanted to tell it in the most fun way possible - obviously, it's a play, not a musical - but the multi-character casting, the creativity of staging, and the joy that the cast seemed to be having in telling the story gave something of the same flavour to me. There's not a lot I took away from it but it was an enjoyable night out.
(Apologies for not posting earlier, I thought I'd seen it mentioned in a thread, but searched for it, couldn't find it, and got distracted by something and ended up not posting at all...)

Has anyone else seen that The Yard are bringing this back? Anyone planning to go again? I was really glad to hear it and I am bringing my friends from out of town... !

I'm going to try to fit it in after hearing that this will be "a tweaked and sharpened version" - so curious to see how it works this time.

Are there stairs or is it all on a level? To be honest, I've only been there the once and I don't remember the venue that well. From my recollection it was all on the level apart from the rake of the auditorium, where there were stairs unless you were in the front row. I'd rather you didn't take my word for it though in case I've misremembered, might be worth an email to the venue.

Their access page is pretty good, might have the info you need: www.theyardtheatre.co.uk/access

Saw this again last night and left not quite as enthusiastic as I was first time around. Not sure if that was down to the lack of novelty, in that some of the surprising staging wasn't so much of a surprise this time, but overall I felt it didn't have quite the same energy or verve as first time around. In particular, the second act seemed slower and more serious - which in some ways it should as there was a human cost to the Cleveland Street Scandal, and I think the rewrites are trying to make more of that, but it does so at the cost of the pace and drive of the show. The new cast are terrific and prove supremely adaptable.
Extended until 30 Nov, I still think this is worth seeing as a tremendously creative piece of storytelling, and some remarkably versatile acting, but I'm not quite as wowed this time around.

It hadn't been on my radar but thanks to this thread, paid a first visit to Yard on Saturday.
I really really liked this. The staging is brilliant, the set design is brilliant, the costumes are brilliant especially having gone in pretty much knowing nothing about it. The whole approach is really engaging and the cast are so up for it. It's surreal and absurd but all in service of the story. Big recommend.

I went in with quite low expectations but emerged having had a lot of fun. I knew nothing of the Cleveland Street scandal beforehand but it's a fascinating slice of history (though research on my way home suggests the writer took some liberties with his plot) and told with considerable verve and brio. Actors were all pretty strong and the evening zips along. My only criticism is that some of the scenes are played in a realistic way while others appear more Spitting Image come to life. I think the direction could've provided more consistency, it falls a little between two stools at the moment. Could definitely see this move to a higher profile theatre next year with a bit more tweaking and get quite a few bums on seats (hopefully more comfortable than The Yard's).
