Bonnie does the splits? (Rolls eyes) They should have just gone the whole hog by casting Wayne Sleep as Monsieur Thenardier and have them both doing it.

I think she is contractually bound to do the splits in every show, regardless of if it fits or is appropriate to the role.

It sounds so desperately tacky. The crowd probably loves it.

I really did enjoy the evening out, but I was expecting a bit more spectacle rather than just the same staged concert that can be seen a few times a month on Sky Arts. Thanks for the review. Had thought the set looked like the 30th from pictures so nice to have that confirmed. Best to manage my expectations! Thankfully got some cheaper £30 seats at the side of the arena so can at least feel like I'm getting my money's worth.

I know it's just one review on here so far but I have also seen a few pics on social media and certainly it looks almost identical to the Sondheim/Gielgud concert version - and that is slightly disappointing and underwhelming.
Was hoping for a fully re-designed version that was indeed an "arena spectacular."
I defend Cameron a lot but so far on this occasion it does all rather look a bit like milking the cash cow. Still, show business and all, and it's sold out..... so guess twas ever thus. (Only it wasn't and the O2 version, questionable casting aside, was a great "concert" staging!)

(Today's sweeping statement lol).

Cameron did say at the end of the Gielgud run in November 2019 that he wanted to tour the concert.
But the full production has not long finished a UK tour, so I guess they went for the “arena spectacular” marketing to get people back in again. Unfortunately, I don’t think the scale and cast size of the O2 concert would be viable to tour.
To be fair, I’m going in a few weeks and the front row of the centre front block cost £95, the same as the Gielgud/Sondheim concert, so I don’t feel cheated.

Ha, I was going to be that guy and ask if there was any new merch available. But I don’t have to now: www.instagram.com/reel/DAG7WVUugvw/Sadly they’ve decided to pursue that horrific “Miz Rocks” slogan. 🙄

One thing I did notice during the interval while I was checking the cast on my phone (I really am bitter about the brochure not arriving in time) was that Daniel Kirk wasn’t on as Bambatois, with Owain Williams seemingly taking over that track. Does anyone know if that's the same Owain Williams as was in the 2010 tour cast? I remember seeing him go on for Enjolras then, & also understudying Raoul a year or so before, but I haven't come across him in any shows since.

He has done TV presenting and was recently in Priscilla the Party.

Alejo Thank you for the confirmation.
(I did try looking up the Les Mis website before asking but he doesn't have a biography on there & I wasn't sure based on the headshot, given it's difficult to remember exactly what someone looked like on stage 15-odd years ago.)

Does anyone else feel that it's just plain wrong for the Thénardiers to bow AFTER Éponine and Fantine? I suppose you could make an argument if they were buying separately for Thénardier (certainly NOT Mme Thénardier) to bow after Éponine, but FANTINE?

I had the pleasure of seeing this twice yesterday and while it may not be spectacular in terms of staging, it is always a thrill to hear that score.
Ball and Boe… gave the performances you’d expect for better or worse. Ball a huge ham and borders on camp, Boe bellows his heart out but not much an actor.
For my money, Killian and Bradley outshine in every respect. Fantastic vocals and wonderful acting. Bradley, in particular, is just spectacular as Javert. Menacing, enthralling, broken, demented.

Is it a pleasure? I want to take my Mum for a Christmas present, but not if it sullies her memories of Les Mis? Manchester is an awful lot closer to Warrington than London.

Difficult to answer. If you need the staging to feel like you’ve seen Les Mis proper than I’d avoid. It’s also a truncated version of the show. Act two really zips along for what it’s worth.
If you love the score, any opportunity to see it is worthwhile.
You can also watch Michael Ball chew what little set there is, if that’s your thing.
