The Barbican Pit was a great venue, used partly for plays that traveled down from the Swan. A Jovial Crew and Hyde Park were two good Caroline plays. Also some good Jacobean productions: The Duchess of Malfi (Harriet Walter) and Pericles.
Les Liaisons Dangereuses came down from the Swan to make its London premiere at the Pit. The Dead Monkey (Nick Darke) was another new play that I enjoyed at the Pit.

Sorry but had to correct you Les Liaisons was produced at the Other Place a totally brilliant shed I remember seeing some great shows there.

I actually saw it after it had transferred from the Pit to the Ambassadors.

Prob too late but Danny and Tamara ( I know, I’m being familiar ) should read this thread for the programming of The Swan

Prob too late but Danny and Tamara ( I know, I’m being familiar ) should read this thread for the programming of The Swan Not a fan of "rollicking queer cowboy" new plays going into the Swan ? One positive thing they could do which would please everyone is reopen the Other Place on a permanent basis to run alongside the Swan so they have a choice of venues for their new writing and their less popular classic revivals. NT manage to run three venues on their equivalent income so I don't see the problem.

The School for Scandal is coming to the RSC main stage this summer - not really fitting the definition of a restoration comedy but it was mentioned earlier in this topic

Next year Tom Littler is directing a 250th anniversary production of The Rivals at the Orange Tree. Not strictly a restoration comedy but close.

I'm in the mood for a linguistically ripe and fruity Restoration comedy - any sign of one?
