Just as a matter of interest does anyone know what happened to the proposed transfer of Some Like It Hot? I would imagine the same as what happened to the proposed transfers of JAGGED LITTLE PILL and SHUCKED. :-(

Just as a matter of interest does anyone know what happened to the proposed transfer of Some Like It Hot? The US Tour just started recently, if that flops I don't think we'll see a transfer at all.

And now The Notebook allegedly happening.
To be honest, so many West End shows close announcing they are doing tours that never materialise.
So many Broadway shows close announcing West End runs that never materialise.
Unless they are genuinely big hitters, most are unlikely to actually come over (or if they do it's often years later in a non West End smaller venue).
Shame about Shucked. A few catchy songs in that!

Sadly I’ve heard this is dead now. The producers got cold feet. I wonder what caused this. And it's curious it didn't take off in NYC. It may simply be a generational issue that the years are passing by.

I got day seats to see this on Broadway. If I’m honest we just went as my daughter wanted to see Christian Borle in a show. Neither of us (45 & 18) knew anything about the show and hadn’t seen the film.
It had some fantastic numbers and amazing costumes and I really enjoyed it, but I’m not sure I see it in a west end theatre anytime soon.

When Shucked priced accordingly, it was a decent little earner with lowish overheads. Let down by a bizarrely high capitalisation.
It was also doing admirably (if not amazingly) and only closed because another show extended unexpectedly, bumping The Who’s Tommy out of the theatre it was intending to go in, and the Nederlanders sacrificed Shucked to make room.
If they don’t go wild with the pricing, it could have a nice little (limited) run here. Some Like it Hot was the better show but marketed horribly and just felt too old fashioned.

Shucked was a weird choice for Cameron to go on about and proclaim its' UK transfer. I saw it on BW and it's a lot of fun and witty but there is zero UK audience for it - it's not Avenue Q. It's a lovely show that i'll really enjoy at Southwark, same with Kimberley Akimbo (which I adored but am aware of it's limited UK mainstream potential). Some Like It Hot was a joyous massive musical - sadly no great songs but the production was mindblowing - the tap dance chase in Act 2 worth admission alone. It also had the most gorgeous trans story woven into it - that I adored - and when I spoke to an Upper East Side wasp who was sitting next to me afterwards she told me that she never understood it before until that show. Huge shame if the UK is going to miss out on this because it really was a glorious Broadway spectacle directed by the iconic Casey Nicholaw - would rather this was in the West End instead of Mean Girls.

Somebody directed ‘Mean Girls’? I’d say ‘staged’ would be a more appropriate word; so unimaginative was its staging! (Just my opinion obvs).

I think Some Like It Hot would have died a pretty quick death here, unless maybe they got Johannes from strictly to lead it.
It wasn't a great musical, and I think in part writing new golden age style musicals doesn't seem to work. They never seem to have the same feel and sound to them, compared to the ones actually written in the golden age.

I think we need to see if Johannes can act and sing his lead part in Kinky Boots before we start casting him in anything else. He’s going to look and dance brilliantly in it but I’m not convinced about the rest until we see him.

I listened to the cast recording a couple of weeks ago and thought that it was refreshing to here a somewhat traditional, jazzy Broadway score amidst all these new musicals with the same old piano, pop writing. With a landscape of musical theatre that feels more and more AI generated it felt nice to hear a bunch of songs by Shaiman and Wittman that had rich orchestrations.
