I was threatened with violence during a performance of Bombay Dreams because I politely asked the couple behind me to stop talking through the first half.
'We've paid for our tickets, we can do what we like'
Rude, disruptive audience members are sadly nothing new

Sarah sounds rough as houses. “We’d only had a couple of drinks”

She needs to do the same on screen. And do a feature to explain how audiences should behave. Twitter apologies aren't enough

And Katherine Ryan has replied saying she didn't need to apologise and its people criticising who are the problem. That's so disappointing from a performer.

Twitter apologies aren't enough I will be massively disappointed if This Morning doesn't address it, considering the scale of the issue over the last few days and the BBC has discussed it with members of the theatre community, it would be wrong if they didn't.

This Morning/ITV ignore/cover up plenty when it comes to their presenters so I wouldn't hold your breath.

That news article is hilarious for all the wrong reasons
"A woman has claimed three security workers 'dragged' her partner out of the Palace Theatre after he 'waved his arms' during a performance in The Bodyguard musical"
I'm sure the real story is a little different!

I'm seeing The Bodyguard in a few weeks and plan to scream through My Heart Will Go On During the final number. Is that allowed?

I get the feeling that pissed up audience was dead set on ‘pushing boundaries’ and seeing how much they could get away with, egged on by This Morning and the original MEN review. The same morons who were out marching during the first lockdown. Big babies who think they’re railing against some sort of system when actually they’re just very sad individuals. Desperate article from the MEN again.

Anyone thinks that This Morning will do a segment on how to behave in the theatre is kidding themselves, it's not that sort of programme.

Hannah Waddingham tweeted supporting Alison, that's very disappointing.
Plenty of replies under Alison tweets saying it's OK to sing along and 'just they try and stop me'

I genuinely hate ATG and I think it’s a shame the pandemic didn’t put them out of business. Making thousands of people unemployed and hundreds of dark theatres isn't exactly a good thing...

I agree and also she wasn't the only one to say it so it isn't fair she took the brunt. BUT that doesn't change my surprise and disappointment to see performers supporting the opinion or the number of people saying she was in the right.

Reading Hannah Waddingham’s tweet (wanted to call her Anna Paddington then after her jokes at the Oliviers!) it reads that she is supporting Alison Hammond apologising, not condoning the original messaging that disruptive behaviour at the theatre is OK. Alison Hammond’s apology reads fairly sincerely, that she was ignorant and wrong and regrets her part in this.

I'm concerned about the mixture of alcohol and theatre etiquette. The use of glassware instead of plastic cups is troublesome as well. I was at a recent performance where the group next to me had two champagnes each and while they were emptied during the performance, became musical instruments for the audience members. I said something and they apologized, but why did it happening to begin with?

I can’t believe people are willing to pay the prices for drinks in theatres. Maybe one as a treat, but whole bottles of wine? Crazy.

I usually buy a bottle as it's cheaper than getting 1 glass pre-show and 1 glass in the interval - especially with ATG discount 30 minutes before the show. They usually allow me to poor what I want pre-show and then put the bottle in the fridge for the interval.

I haven't seen any glass in the ATG Manchester venues, even if ordering Prosecco to the seat, the staff poor it into plastic cups in front of you and take the glass away.

It was just over £20 for a bottle of Rose and they were charging £10 for a large glass.

I could swear the opera house in Manc were charging £30 for a bottle.
Being a saddo I just went onto the ATG at seat service website for The Bodyguard tonight and on that you can’t buy a bottle.

I think it was just over £8 for a small can of wine. When I was there a couple of weeks back it was £25 for a bottle of rose and a programme - that is with ATG discount, so would be closer to £30 without discount.
