Classic fm released their opinion and rated his shows www.classicfm.com/composers/lloyd-webber/andrew-best-musicals-ranked/Sort of agree on the top 6 but love never dies and school of rock deserve to be higher than cinderella which should replaced by whistle down the wind. Best thing when you do see most of his musicals listed it does show what a powerful body of work he has created Their ratings 10 Love never dies 9 Aspects of love 8 School of rock 7 cinderella 6 Cats 5 Sunset Boulevard 4 Joseph 3 Evita 2 JCS 1 The phantom of the opera

Joseph, Aspects and Cinderella would way lower for me! Surprised that Starlight Express didn't make the list as well.

I'd put Tell Me on a Sunday, Whistle Down the Wind and Starlight Express higher than Cinderella, LND and even School of Rock.

I’d put By Jeeves higher than half the stuff on that list

These lists that companies publish are only ever someone's opinion and I guess there to promote debate. (The number of heated discussions my gay mates have every time some publisher or other lists Kylie's top songs lol!)
That said it's good to see Cinderella getting some love. My personal Top 5: 1. Starlight Express 2. Cats 3. Aspects of Love 4. Sunset Boulevard 5. Evita Musical perfection from the first note to the last.

1 JCS 2 Evita 3 Cats 4 Starlight Express 5 Tell me on a Sunday 6 Phantom 7 Sunset Boulevard 8 Whistle Down the Wind 9 Joseph 10 School of Rock
I suppose Starlight Express didn't make the cut because most people in the UK would only know the 1984 OLC now, which sounds very... well, 80s and dated. I'd also place it at no.1 for me personally as a musical, because no musical did more for me than Starlight Express (in Germany) in the late 80s and early 90s, where it was my "safe place" and escape from a sh*tty world, closely followed by Cats, which did similar but was harder to reach in Hamburg.
But if I look at the objective quality, I'd have to place other musicals higher for coherence, good story, good lyrics, etc. I'd rate LND higher for the music, but can't get past the idiotic story.

I thought Cats would have been top 4 at least. IMO the Jellicle Ball is one of the greatest pieces of music ALW ever wrote up there with Superstar. Phantom is the strongest show I fully agree.
A poll of ALW's top songs or pieces of music would be fun too.

Sorry but I don’t have time to do the research and handle the usual “but what about “ objections. Let us know when you’re there and ready to vote!

And can take or leave the rest, but the above are four of my favourite musicals full stop.

Personally, I wouldn't include Cats in the top ten - if I never see or hear it again, it will be too soon. Tell Me On a Sunday, whether solo or included with Song and Dance, had some beautiful songs and I loved that it was one woman's story. How many women find ourselves saying "let me finish," whether it's a personal or professional situation? I wouldn't include Starlight Express either - not wild about the anthropomorphic shows. I don't know how Cinderella/Bad Cinderella got in there.
My personal top five: 1) Phantom 2) Evita 3) Sunset Blvd 4) Love Never Dies (Australian staging) 5) Aspects of Love (original staging)
I know some people hate the latter two stories, but the music is beautiful, and in real life relationships are messy.

Haven’t seen all his work. And my list skews 90s and later. Phantom has never been my favorite. And I find JCS to have a handful of great numbers but otherwise forgettable. As in I have seen it at least twice and it’s left zero impression.
1. Sunset 2. Evita 3. Cinderella 4. Cats 5. Phantom 6. JCS
And yes, I like Cinderella. Not great art but good music and silly fun.

I'd go 1 - Evita 2 - JCS 3 - Phantom 4 - Sunset 5 - Cinderella (controversially) 6 - School of Rock 7 - Everything else
If you average it out the consensus seems to be a mixture of Evita/Sunset/Phantom at the top three for this board, which I'm cool with.

Haha, I loved Cinderella. Was the perfect post lockdown tonic for me. It’s only really controversial on here and BWW. Lots of the GBP loved it and the reception in the theatre was always great. ALW’s best score since Sunset IMHO.

1. Sunset 2. Evita 3. Phantom 4. JCS 5. Whistle Down The Wind 6. Cats 7. The Beautiful Game 8. Love Never Dies 9. Tell Me On A Sunday 10. Aspects of Love/Stephen Ward (joint tenth place!)
Some of these productions have moved up further than they would have been had I just been an audience member of. I've been in productions of JCS and Whistle - living and breathing them so intently over months gave me an extra appreciation and affection for them.
(haven't seen Cinderella or By Jeeves but have seen everything else of his)
