Saw this on Saturday and it was absolutely hysterical. They’ve reimagined the set from the revolve of the original production to a beautiful wooden 1920s set that folds out into various bits of scenery. They also utilise foley and mime (especially in one particularly brilliant car-ride section)
It’s a three-hander, with Wooster playing himself while Jeeves and Seppings juggle all other roles (with a lot of quick changes and clothes over clothes which was probably torture in the sudden heatwave this week, but they didn’t show it)
This deserves to be seen by more people, because my face hurt from grinning and laughing throughout the whole show. The show looked pretty full when I saw it, although I was one of the few under 40 years old (because Salisbury) and it doesn’t seem to be on theatre-goers radars when it really should

I'm going to see it in Bolton next month and I've been wondering how they were staging it. I saw the original production twice in London and laughed like a drain the whole way through. Would have arranged a trip to see it at Oldham Coliseum in 2020 but for the pandemic!

(with a lot of quick changes and clothes over clothes which was probably torture in the sudden heatwave this week, but they didn’t show it) Patrick Warner tweeted a couple of times in the last week about that!
I wish I could see this production but Salisbury & Bolton are both several hours away from me. I saw a different production of the piece in 2020 10 days before the first covid lockdown, with very few people in the audience, & enjoyed it so I would like to see it again.

I hadn't planned on booking for this when it was announced to be playing at the Bolton Octagon, however the positive reviews both on here and from the critic reviews from the Salisbury Playhouse run made me change my mind for a trip up to Bolton for today's matinee. After a hectic week in work, it was nice to unwind with this really funny and charming production. If you enjoyed "The 39 steps", then this show is could be for you.
At just over 2 hrs, it was great mad cap fun from writers Robert and David Goodale bringing PG Woodhouse's characters to the stage . The play just doesn't break the fourth wall, more like smash it with its play within a play structure from the opening lines. The cast of 3 guys were all fantastic with their performaces. Their on stage energy and lots of joke props kept everybody thoroughly entertained and laughing the entire time. Under the direction of Marieke Audsley, the comedy timing and pacing was spot on with some very quick costume and scenery changes made the show flow with ease.
A really lovely and versatile art deco set from designer Olivia du Monceau slickly transforms from different rooms, library, bathroom, integrated wardrobe and even the outdoors over the course of the play giving plenty of laughs during each of the changes. Some wonderful costumes also from Olivia, just added to the overall fun of the show.
I would highly recommend seeing this if you have the chance.
