Although it is a famous flop, I wouldn't put Which Witch on the list. But I absolutely would put Tonight's The Night on it. Never hated a musical as much as that embarrassment. I felt so sorry for the cast. I was going to say Gone with the Wind (Trevor Nunn edition) as the worst of the worst, but then you reminded me that Tonight’s the Night existed. Irredeemably awful - if Hannah Waddingham couldn't make it work, it has no chance. As a fan of the film, I'm sorry I missed it! It's unlikely to reach the stage again in any form as the story hasn't aged particularly well and its portrayal of slaves and slave-owners is overly romanticised to say the least.

My only memory of that musical was of the family sitting in front of me. The mother had this huge handbag and had a McDonald's meal in there and kept bringing out more and more food. It was like Mary Poppins carpet bag. Fortunately I've forgotten everything about the musical.

There was a glam rock jukebox musical I saw in about 2000 in Birmingham on tour and the show was truly awful. I cannot recall the title of it only Sonia of Eurovision and Stock Aitken and Waterman fame was in it. The show ran nearly 3 hours too! A Slice of Saturday Night? Hot Stuff? Rock of Ages?

Jekyll & Hyde - butn it with fire and then bury the remains in the deepest trench of the deepest ocean. Just so horribly misjudged when you have a wonderful story from which to begin. ....and it wasn'y purely a musical, more a musical/comedy/drama but if anyone at the National ever mentions reviving their absolutely fecking awful version of "A Matter of Life and Death" then I'll be voting for Tory budget cuts for the arts. Well sadly you may not get your wish. A new production starring Ramin Karimloo is coming..! As a Ramin K and a Jekyll & Hyde fan I need to ask if this is actually true or just a joke

It was a show called Electric Lipstick someone had kindly answered it a couple of days ago.

I heard a while back that there was plans to bring a "new" reinvented production of Jekyll & Hyde that was much darker than previous productions, but haven't heard any fresh news about it since so this is interesting!

Adore Jekyll and Hyde but Ramin has to be one of the most overrated actors. Paper thin voice that sounds whiny and like it's going to break at any moment. Literally anyone else as Jekyll/Hyde, please

I do have a list of shows I really can’t stand and will go against most musical theatre fans views: The Sound of Music, West Side Story, Blood Brothers

The Fantasticks. Saw it at The Duchess Theatre and really did not like it. It ran for so long on Broadway that I thought it must be good but it really wasn't. Only saving grace was Russell Tovey sat right behind me.

Thoroughly Modern Millie. Absolutely dreadful. There was meant to be a Encores production with a new book, unfortunately Covid derailed everything. Fabulous music though shame about it's book.

CARRIE.
Unless it’s the original 1988 Broadway production. I’d even take a concert production of the 1988 version, just to hear those insane songs live.
The 2012 is so vanilla and sanitised it really shouldn’t be revived again.

As much as I absolutely love it, Rocky Horror has been touring the same production/set/cast for YEARS now. It needs a refresh, but it’s an obvious crowd pleaser that will always do well.

The pro shot video is a favourite.

I think Chicago is a wonder. A lot of the stunt casting is not a wonder though

I haven't seen a professional Jekyll and Hyde but I did see an amateur production where Hyde dry humped a dining room chair while singing. I remember nothing else about the show, other than a jaw ache from my open mouthed horror.... I do, however, remember something of the music of A Matter of Life And Death. I quite liked it ....
