With 5 songs in the Top 25 (3 in the Top 5) can it be long before this becomes a stage musical.
Ryan Gosling's rock ballad 'I'm Just Ken' is the most 'modern musical theatre' in style. Haven't heard as many changes of musical direction in one song since 'A Kiss Is A Terrible Thing Waste' from ALW's 'Whistle Down The Wind'.
I haven't seen the film yet - does it have stage musical qualities for adaptation?
Feels like it could take some oxygen from the constant 'Grease' productions, which would be a change. Time for a new Pink Lady?

I'm not sure if the current film would work as a stage musical but you can bet Warner Bros and Mattel are thinking about it.

I imagine all guns are blazing with merchandising and building a “Barbie Cinematic Universe” (I’m afraid I’m not kidding). I understand multiple sequels are greenlit and in pre-production with the stars signed up for a multi-picture contract. So all their energies will likely be churning out sequels and striking while the iron is hot.
Give a few years and a musical is very possible, but I wouldn’t expect anything any time soon while there is huge bank to be made at the cinema box office and with toy sales for a whole new generation.

As capitalist as it sounds I’d eat this up.. imagine the grand sets translated directly onto stage? and the costumes. The campness of it all

'Strictly Come Dancing' gave the producers of any future stage musical a freebie workshop. Choreographed by Lizzie Gough and Tommy Franzen.
