Well remembered Alice. I'd had a look on his wikipage and no plays were listed. But it is nice to know he has done some stage work outside of his own tours. I'll be most interested to see how Steve plays the President character. Dr Strangelove himself he can have a lot of fun with and the British RAF officer Mandrake will be an easy character for him to master even if he is a lot older than Peter Sellars when he played Mandrake. Steve being in his late 50's will be a plus to him playing the president and Strangelove as they would have been a lot older than Peter Sellars was when he played them. Sellars was due to play the B52 commander in the film too but hurt his ankle and couldn't work in the confined plane set but I doubt Steve would be able to or want to play 4 characters on stage as logistics and workload would just be too much. Hopefully there will be decent names in the supporting cast as there are a number of good roles there for top actors to get into. Really looking forward to this -- November, Royal Circle, Row A. If you saw The Picture of Dorian Gray you'll have seen Sarah Snook play multiple characters, at the same time even, through the miracle of video and excellent timing. I'm a big fan of Dr Strangelove the movie. This is going to be great (so say I; and I hope I'm right; I'm sure I am!). (edited for typo)

I’m still undecided on going to see this but on 27th September, the BFI is putting on a screening followed by a q&a with Steve Coogan, Armando Iannucci and Sean Foley.

Do we know if any seats have been held back for this and aren’t on sale yet, e.g. front row/boxes?

Great stuff! John Hopkins and Mark Hadfield are brilliant comedy actors.

Nothing available on TodayTix but looking at the theatres website, lots of availability apart from the first preview, but £185 for a stalls seat? I’ll pass at that price, I saw ten minutes of Alan Partridge at the Savoy Theatre on Monday night so that will do for me on the Coogan front.

The BFI have announced that Coogan won’t be at the screening this week so I will be returning my ticket for a credit (I've seen Ianucci doing a couple of Q&As previously and I have the Criterion version of the film so won’t be missing out on much)

The same ones Sellers did and one extra one in the plane - it'll be set in the same time period as the film - they've added loads of dialogue to the show.

In a fun way to bring it full circle, Peter Sellers was actually meant to be playing that fourth character (Major Kong) in the plane but sprained his ankle and couldn’t manoeuvre in the tiny plane set (also he wasn’t keen on the role as he was already juggling 3 roles and wasn’t confident with the Texas accent). So this play will finally achieve that original vision of the Peter-Sellers part playing all 4 roles as intended

Stalls front row seats have now been released for the two first weeks at £39.50 each Just booked the centre front row seat for the second preview this Wednesday, thanks for the tip off. High stage warning but I've sat there before and it's not too bad. Same number seats a few rows further back can be booked for £225 !

Okay, thanks, I think that is still a bit pricey for a front row.
Is it selling well then?

Okay, thanks, I think that is still a bit pricey for a front row. Is it selling well then? Very pricey considering the cast will be mostly behind a large table, which means very restricted view from front stalls.

WOW… from the first preview tonight this will be a HUGE hit!
The show is in fine shape with a top performance from Coogan in four roles.
The superb technical stagecraft - production design, special effects and the very speedy transitions between Coogan’s characters - is matched by Coogan’s brilliant comedic timing. It’s no shock that the OTT titular Dr Strangelove was the crowd’s favourite. Special shoutout too to the very deadpan Giles Terrera and John Hopkins in two very funny performances.
The show perhaps loses a bit of steam towards the end with the final scene in the aircraft with Kong falling pretty flat. A couple of fluffed lines and line prompts needed as well, but nothing that won’t be ironed out in previews.
Was lucky enough to get the under 30 offer, but can imagine this being a very hot ticket!
Was also sat in Stalls Row B - you see 95% of the action as although there is the table obstruction you can still see the actors heads when they are seated. Only thing we couldn’t see was Dr Strangelove in the wheelchair but very minor as he soon comes to the front of the stage. Can’t speak for Row A.
And for gunshots - all fake gun sfx matched with the props so nothing very loud at all.
4 star show after first preview… probably a 5 in a month’s time once bedded in!

Perhaps the Strangelove Table will get its own Twitter/X account like the Zhivago Table. x.com/TheZhivago

I was in a front row £39.50 seat last night and the high stage had minimal effect on the view EXCEPT the scenes around the oval table where a few of the participants can't be seen and others only the upper parts of their bodies.
The overall experience of seeing any show from the closest seat possible (I was dead centre in A13) for me always makes up for any restriction like a high stage or reduced legroom and it certainly did last night. Steve Coogan was just amazing, the whole cast excellent and I predict this will be a major success with cheap seats hard to get. The house full sign was up last night.
Front row seats still at £39.50 and IMHO a steal at the price have just gone on sale for performances on 18 and 19 October and given the pricing elsewhere won't be around for long.

Notice these have gone already, anyone had any intel on whether there is a pattern for when these are released?
