I think those of us who have children of a certain age (mine are all in their 20s) we have vivid memories of Layton in the CBBC series School for Stars (2011) whch followed youngsters training at Italia Conti. From a google it looks like it can be seen on YouTube.

There does seem to be a lot of clips of them driving about. Maybe it is done to get footage easier but we did almost see Amanda's number plate. I could understand the filming of Annabel picking JoJo up in her camper van as that is something she helped resore and its a bit different.
Layton as I've said a few times I've met him he seemed pretty humble and was nice with his fans and wasn't OTT flamboyant. Maybe he has got more confident as he's got more success in recent years and to be a BAME gay man who is very camp ge'd need a lot of confidence. Maybe being around other celebs he feels he needs to be more OTT to get noticed and you have 25 plus people all vying for attention and camera time.
I think Layton will make the final he is such a good dancer even if he ends up in a dance off post Blackpool the judges would save him.
Not sure what Angela R's hair looked like though. I haven't watched the show fully but know the result. Keep having to remember which Strictly forum page I'm on so I don't discuss results on the wrong one.

I find any Strictly contestant who has previous dance experience, is a confident person and doesn't have a sob story attached to them, ends up being cast as the ringer/the unlikeable one of the show. The one who certain viewers want to see in the dance off because they think they need to be knocked down a peg or two. It happens most seasons to someone. And it's a pain because they are usually the main contestant I'm interested in watching.

Angela's hair was giving me Dame Edna vibes. She is incredibly flexible for anyone of that age. And she knows how to carry herself. But she is not going to be able to avoid the faster dances for much longer...

I'm pretty sure if Ellie and Vito had closed the show rather than opening it, the judges would have awarded at least another point each. The amount of content and level of difficulty was far higher than many who came after her and scored the same or more. Hopefully enough of the audience were sufficiently annoyed to send her through to next week.

Loved the dance in the results show between Vito and Nikita Agreed! That was gorgeous. One of the best contemporary dances I've seen on Strictly with two of my favorite pro-dancers.

But she is not going to be able to avoid the faster dances for much longer... If Angela had been given a Dame Enda rinse or wig it might have looked better. I was getting Doc from Back to the Future or even Ken Dodd vibes. Whether she can do a faster dance I'd be interested to see. If Kai can keep the steps within her comfort zone she should be okay but maybe won't score spectacularly. They could base the Charleston on her most famous dance with Eric and Ernie maybe.

Facebook reaction that Beverley Knight was lip synching, quite rightly rebutted by both Bev and also Adrian Hansel who says he was assisting with choreography and staging. She says
Hello everyone who was watching #Strictly tonight! In the entirety of my career, I’ve never EVER mimed a note. Not once. The slay is real people, note for note.🎤

Some thoughts about Saturday nights show.
I was out and actually started watching from when and Jowita were receiving feedback from the judges. Which means I had to go back on the i-Payer to watch three dances.
I liked Ellie and Vito. I don' think that she gives herself credit in her abilities. Although he is mt favourite professional, unfortunately, I feel that (sometimes) he outdances his partner.
Adam and Luba- classy stuff.
Amanda and Giovanni- she said it, and you could see it, Amanda really enjoyed that dance.
Annabel and Johannes- Another one. I don;t think that Annabel realises how good she is.
Angela R and Kai- I sat there thinking, if she's that good, I wonder how good she would have been if she were 40 years younger!
Angela S and Carlos- Carlos is clearly doing something right because she's just getting better and better.
Bobby and Dianne- Can't quite warm to him and sometimes I feel in the way he speaks, hold himself and dances, his youth shines through
Eddie and Karen- I am starting to warm to Eddie. I think Shirley said something along the lines of, you have your own style, and I tend to agree.
Krishnan and Lauren- I think that Krishnan suprised not only himself, but everybody with that Paso. When you're a passive person by nature, it's difficult to draw out aggression.
Layton and Nikita- as good as he is clearly proving to be, I just can't warm to Layton. I'm trying (I really am) but we're now at week 5 and so far I can't do it. Nigel and Katya- also extremely impressive.
Zara and Graziano- I thought she looked beautiful and there was a vast improvement.

I don't know how it works whether an act can bring their own band/use backing tracks and sing live or get Dave Arch and co to play track for them

Zara and Graziano- I thought she looked beautiful and there was a vast improvement. Excellent overview as always Anthony, it was a middling week. If we take out the bottom 2 and then the top of the leaderboard only 5 points seperated the other 10 contestants so that shows how close it was. Eddie went from 2nd top to 2nd bottom in a week and with so many scoring around 28 to 30 if they do a sound dance. One mistake or the wrong dance can have you in trouble. I couldn't say who I think would be the likely finalists, we don't know who is getting voting momentum. Layton naturally and Ellie look very good dancers, Angela S and Bobby I can see having a very good run and being popular. But then you have Nigel and Amanda as two very sound middle aged dancers who have all their acting experience to draw on and they have two very good pros as partners, Annabel is the heartwarming story and JoJo I can see people wanting to see lift the glitterball. Then we have Miss Rippon all 79 years old of her I fully agree Anthony why wasn't she booked to do this in one of the earlier series. In her mid to late 60's she'd have had potential to do a Pamela Stephenson or Debbie McGee who were older lasdies who reached the final. Whether Angela can go further than say an Amanda or Annabel I don't know? Krishnan if he could make it to Halloween I think he'd be content to go out then but Eddie and Zara along with him I can see being next trio in danger. But they have all done good dances so we could see anyone maybe bar the very top couples being in the dance off.

Week 5 Adam and Luba Couple’s Choice to Backstreet Boys Medley by Backstreet Boys
Amanda and Giovanni Cha Cha to Canned Heat by Jamiroquai
Annabel and Johannes Charleston to Ladies Night by Kool & The Gang
Angela R and Kai Argentine Tango to Tanguera by Sexteto Mayor
Angela S and Carlos American Smooth to Cherish by Madonna
Bobby and Dianne Viennese Waltz to golden hour by JVKE
Eddie and Karen Samba to Calm Down by Rema ft. Selena Gomez
Ellie and Vito Paso Doble to Insomnia by Faithless
Krishnan and Lauren Quickstep to The Lady Is A Tramp by Frank Sinatra
Layton and Nikita Salsa to Quimbara by Johnny Pacheco and Celia Cruz
Nigel and Katya Foxtrot to I Just Want To Make Love To You by Etta James
Zara and Graziano American Smooth to Can’t Fight The Moonlight by LeAnn Rimes
No obvious poor musical choices
Bobby is maybe going to struggle with his frame given the significant height difference. Pretty early for the AT but I suspect it will be carefully choreographed to showcase what she can do.

He just has to bend his knees more, and Diane will take larger steps to help. I've done VW with a guy about a foot taller than me before, and it was exhausting for me.

This week's dances look pretty good. Angela R with an Argentine Tango would seem an unlikely fit but she seemed to really want to do it so lets wait and see. Annabel's Charleston will be worth seeing if she has the ability to do the comedic side. Eddie has a dance which I think should suit him and Krishnan with a ballroom can get a decent score.

I know that the ballroom version is different but I thought that it was commonplace in Argentina to see elderly people dancing the tango. So maybe Angela Ripon dancing it isn't quite so unlikely.

Whilst I appreciate that for every dance routine the celebrities perform the basics must be there, surely as a professional Kai- as I'm believe to be the case for every remaining professional- would choreograph a routine that's not only within the individual celebrities capabilities but also shows off what they can do, how much they've learnt that week and how much they've progressed?

Totally agree a good pro dancer/choreographer will always highlight a celebs strengths and not give them moves where their limitations are exposed. Kevin Clifton openly said he did this, put in bits that he knew Len Goodman would like etc. Brendan Cole was the other way a great dancer himself but would still want to do a flashy routine with a limited celeb. Charlotte Hawkins ended up on the floor trying to do a complicated spin she couldn't master, Kevin would have just taken that out.

Who do we predict will be the next to exit the show this weekend? If we are going by weakest then it should be Eddie. I don’t think he beats anyone in the dance off.

To be fair, she has improved a lot. I think her being in the dance off was a real slap in the face for her and she dug her heels in and go on with it. I don'r believe for a second that she'll win, but she has upped her game and improved.

Of those left in Zara, Krishnan, Eddie and Adam are lowest avwrage scorers. Adam has his couples choice which I think will score well. Salsa would seem a good dance for Eddie. I like American Smooth for Zara but I'll go her and Krishnan for dance off and as I'd love to see Krishnan get to Halloween week and bow out then I'll say Miss Havering 2014 goes home.
