Was ready with my credit card this morning to book....
Will pass. Not inspired by this casting, a "new concert" version... No, not if you're charging £70/£90 for seats you can actually see anything.

The casting choice for Young Diana makes it even more ridiculous. I can't wait! Loved the sheer audacity of the Broadway version.

I sat halfway back in the circle at Hammersmith for Nativity and everything was just a blur - you're too far away. Not good for musicals. And at the heart of it, Diana is an intimate show.

Big fan of the musical, saw it on Broadway but this is a big pass for me!
Casting is such a letdown for this and that venue with those prices, just no!

And youv'e got to fight your way through the security staff. It’s all the extra things like this that put me off this venue too. I can deal with distance, back row at the Apollo Victoria feels similar, but they are too geared up for rowdy gig audiences.

I would never but a ticket in the Apollo balcony again. I think the only vaguely theatrical thing I've seen there is Little Britain Live and various League of Gentleman live shows.

I am very interested in how they justify charging a delivery fee for digital tickets...

Hah, I'm not paying those prices to see Denise Welch, and certainly not at the Apollo. And honestly, I know it's a concert version, but the casting for the younger Diana is just silly. A pass, even with Kerry Ellis.

If emails cost £2 each to send, we would get a lot less spam

The splitting of the role is pretty odd. It’s not like the first part of it is Diana as a child and then as an adult. Weird.

Just saw this description of the show which I suppose explains the double casting -
“ This radical new version of Diana: The Musical, directed by Owen Horsley, hands the microphone to Diana as she reflects on her past. In a theatrical twist, this is a tale in two parts, narrated by Diana (Kerry Ellis) as she looks back on herself as the 19 year old Diana (Maiya Quansah-Breed) that captured the nation.
On this stage she is in control of her narrative and her story is brought to life with humour and satire and in turn reveals a woman who, having just signed her divorce papers, sees a future filled with opportunity.”

Can Denise Welsh do other accents apart from her natural geordie? If not its going to be interesting. Not a fan of the venue as its far to big for this type of thing. Even if it's discounted I'm not going to bother with this.

Rumour has it Denise Welsh is sharing the role with Suzy Izzard. I’d prefer to see Suzy Izzard in this than Denise Welsh, at least you’ll get a half decent performance from a seasoned performer.

Even if it's discounted I'm not going to bother with this. From what I've seen, the Geordie accent (or at least the strong one) has been fake for years. I was involved in a show she was in a while back, and there was a distinct difference between how she spoke when just being herself and how she spoke when on stage.

£14.75 in fees is ridiculous that is more than the London Living Wage I think. Len Goodman as Prince Philip made me smile and Eddie Izzard would have been original casting too.
If they are getting MQB to play young Diana they might as well have got Brenda Edwards in place of Denise as at least Brenda can belt out a tune but I think Brenda has panto commitments

The casting is all a bit Butlins isn’t it?! I’ll pass. Especially with those ridiculous prices and fees. I’ll stick to the joyously awful Netflix version thanks very much… Also, so boooooooored of concerts… thought it was a lockdown thing but they keep on comin.
