It sounds rather exciting. Not the best period for me because I will be abroad for a good part of the run but I hope to catch the "tail" of the booking period.

Count me in, but I don’t think I can go until the last day as I am on holiday and have most weekends already booked for shows. I don’t like going to the Almeida in the evening as for some reason it’s the one theatre that totally bamboozles me getting to and I’m terrified I’ll miss my last train from Waterloo.

Very much in because of JLM but god I hope this is more like the Jeremy Herrin who directed Best of Enemies and NOT the Jeremy Herrin who directed Glass Menagerie

Seating for this is four rows of "wedding seating" in central stalls and one row at side stalls which is full price £53 but looks like it could be uncomfortable depending on how long the play is. almeida-theatre-assets.s3.amazonaws.com/uploads/2023/06/AMirror-Chair2-scaled.jpgRegular seating from row D backwards, and no side stalls on offer apart from the wedding seating in row AA. Fits with the setup which is that in countries where theatre is regulated or prohibited, a performance is often disguised as a wedding to put off the authorities.

Does anyone have a sense of what this is actually about? The plot summary is quite vague.

Does anyone have a sense of what this is actually about? The plot summary is quite vague. I am sure the aim with this is to keep it as vague as possible. Even when it is open I am sure they will not really want people discussing what happens in the play and keep the secrets. I have to say that fact I know nothing makes me really excited, I hope to book early in the run and hopefully the first preview.

Straight forward. Slight price increase for the slim pillars, it seemed?

I booked this when I got home from work and was surprised there was still quite a lot of choice of dates and seats. I've no idea what to expect but I liked the sounds of it from the Holcroft/Herrin video on the Almeida website.

Does anyone ever have issues booking on the Almeida website? I’m trying to book a ticket for this on 18th August. It shows as having limited availability on this date but when I click the link, it says it’s sold out?
The same thing happened to me when I tried to book for Streetcar here. Not sure if it’s just me? By chance I’ll be in London around that time and really want to grab a ticket if possible!

Hi solotheatregoer, just checked and it's showing all dates as sold out except 18th August, which as you say says Limited Availability but when you click on the date it then says sold out. I wonder if you might have more luck if you gave them a call - the Almeida box office is usually helpful and though they can't magic tickets if there aren't any, they can give you good advice about potential returns/more tickets released/explain what's happening with that one date. Hope you bag something!

It might because tickets are available but will only show with a certain promo code, perhaps held back for under25s or through a specific scheme, etc

The Donmar often says limited availability but appears sold out when you click. I think the availability is only for access patrons in those instances. Other theatres may be similar.

Might also be the case the the seats are in another user’s basket but the transaction hasn’t yet been completed.

Thanks everyone for your responses. I called Almeida and they said there were a few seats on hold for a customer to pay online for that date. Not sure how that works as I would have thought they would only allow you to hold for a few minutes before releasing again like other sites. Anyway, I'll keep checking for returns.
