Caught this again on Saturday night, think I enjoyed it more on a second viewing. The most valuable thing it has going for it is that it elicits a reaction from the crowds. Not saying it's as deep or cutting as it could be, but it achieves what it sets out to do. Tells a true story in an accessible, creative way, which leaves an impression on the viewer.

I really wish they had used the standout moment of true drama in the second half where the exhausted Fran lets slip about how oldest brother Tom should have looked after Henry. This is a moment upon which the story could really pivot and the guilt felt by the family could have been explored.

However, as it's a true story, and the man at the centre of it is alive, well, involved and thriving, I can understand how they are somewhat restricted creatively from doing the above. I'd still recommend this to an average London visitor looking for a show to occupy an evening.

Personally, I’m hoping for a DVD/Blu-Ray release.

Has anyone had any success on the physical CD release?

Fantastic performance so far for the first of two filmed shows.

The director came on at the beginning and announced that this IS being filmed for wider release. The folks behind National Theatre Live are behind it all and they said they’re going to make it accessible for more people which I’m THRILLED about.

Glad that it’s going to have a future in some shape or form!

If anyone’s been looking for tickets for the final performance on 2nd March, they released a few more online this afternoon. I’ve been refreshing for weeks and so glad a few more seats finally appeared.

Saw this tonight and enjoyed it. Have not read all the pages of the thread so someone may have said this but I thought a couple of the songs had a bit of an Ed Sheeran feel to them

Overall I liked it but our seats not so much. Fair enough I was up on the second level and in the back row but there is no room at all. If someone wanted to get out, the whole row had to move. I was in the middle of the row and the woman next to me was obviously needing to get out to use the bathroom but held it in (while squirming in her seat for the last 10 minutes or so for act 1). Not comfortable at all

Just a heads up for those going in the last few days, all their merchandise has sold out except programmes and cd’s

Closing night last night was really, really special. I’m not sure I’ve ever had a night like that at the theatre. The Frasers were in, and you could see just how much it meant to all of them - it brought a whole new resonance to the show as a whole. What a special show. I hope that’s not the end of it - the producer alluded to everyone knowing it wouldn’t “run forever at this theatre” but that London is its “home@. I’ll be thinking about last night for a really, really long time.

It was indeed a very special show. I hope it finds a new home soon. It deserves a longer life.

I was thinking it may just come back to @sohoplace in like a year or so, I cannot see how any other theatres can put this show on with backstage accessibility being a major issue, but I'd love to be wrong!

Was an evening I won't be forgetting, incredibly special.

The producer did allude last night that cold opening a show in the West End is a challenge as most shows get traction from trial runs out of town, but from trying to book tickets, as the run progressed it got slightly more challenging towards the end, so I do think it was becoming more popular as word of mouth spread. Although I'm not an expert on west end ticket sales!
