Is this an open-ended run? No, Red Pitch transfers from Bush on from March 15th. Thanks

Both performances on 22nd February are being filmed. Got an email informing us of this as we've booked for that day and offering to change tickets if we don't want to take part.

Doesn't necessarily mean for release though - everything gets filmed for archive these days.

Caught this again on Saturday night, think I enjoyed it more on a second viewing. The most valuable thing it has going for it is that it elicits a reaction from the crowds. Not saying it's as deep or cutting as it could be, but it achieves what it sets out to do. Tells a true story in an accessible, creative way, which leaves an impression on the viewer.
I really wish they had used the standout moment of true drama in the second half where the exhausted Fran lets slip about how oldest brother Tom should have looked after Henry. This is a moment upon which the story could really pivot and the guilt felt by the family could have been explored.
However, as it's a true story, and the man at the centre of it is alive, well, involved and thriving, I can understand how they are somewhat restricted creatively from doing the above. I'd still recommend this to an average London visitor looking for a show to occupy an evening.

NT film a matinee and evening on the same day for archive if it's not an NT Live so yes, perfectly possible it's just for records I think

Personally, I’m hoping for a DVD/Blu-Ray release.
Has anyone had any success on the physical CD release?

Its odd. I saw this a week ago now and had time to digest it a little but I don't get the hype this one has had through my theatre friends.
I really loved the staging, the cast gave great performances and the tech was pitch perfect but I never hit that excitement/connection that I did with shows like Come from away.
I think I would have liked to see a deeper look at the family dynamics and more of a rehab journey as felt they shallow dived a bit on these but couldnt tell you why. Really glad though that a new show has been getting such rave reviews.

Fantastic performance so far for the first of two filmed shows.
The director came on at the beginning and announced that this IS being filmed for wider release. The folks behind National Theatre Live are behind it all and they said they’re going to make it accessible for more people which I’m THRILLED about.
Glad that it’s going to have a future in some shape or form!

I couldn’t be happier that this is going to get a future life. Not ready to let it go, yet.

If anyone’s been looking for tickets for the final performance on 2nd March, they released a few more online this afternoon. I’ve been refreshing for weeks and so glad a few more seats finally appeared.

The filmed matinee today was great and the first time I’ve seen the show since opening night. So glad I managed to catch it one more time.
I did think it was an odd choice to film a performance with so many school groups in. There were some strange noises and talking but I suppose the AI will edit that out.
Also, a shame to hear phones go off twice today. Especially at the literal moment of the painting reveal at the end. Throw in the now mandatory rustling and yeah… just felt a bit sorry for the cast.
Otherwise, still a great show!

Saw this tonight and enjoyed it. Have not read all the pages of the thread so someone may have said this but I thought a couple of the songs had a bit of an Ed Sheeran feel to them
Overall I liked it but our seats not so much. Fair enough I was up on the second level and in the back row but there is no room at all. If someone wanted to get out, the whole row had to move. I was in the middle of the row and the woman next to me was obviously needing to get out to use the bathroom but held it in (while squirming in her seat for the last 10 minutes or so for act 1). Not comfortable at all
Just a heads up for those going in the last few days, all their merchandise has sold out except programmes and cd’s

Otherwise, still a great show! It was also filmed in the evening. I was there and the audience were very well behaved. Still not 100% clear what the filming was for- one of the producers came out before it started and mentioned it was part of their commitment to make shows more accessible and thanks to help from the NT, but I didn't get the impression it was for future broadcast unfortunately. Glad it has been preserved though, I really enjoyed the show. It was my second time of viewing and I got more out of it this time. A friend was there with some of his friends who were on their 50th visit to the show, so it has built up a following!

Closing night last night was really, really special. I’m not sure I’ve ever had a night like that at the theatre. The Frasers were in, and you could see just how much it meant to all of them - it brought a whole new resonance to the show as a whole. What a special show. I hope that’s not the end of it - the producer alluded to everyone knowing it wouldn’t “run forever at this theatre” but that London is its “home@. I’ll be thinking about last night for a really, really long time.

This was a really special show.
My hunch is they will reconfigure it for a proscenium and send it out on tour or transfer it at some point.

I can't see it having a West End run considering how much it was comped for almost the entirety of it's run - a bigger house in town just seems madness.
Could see a tour though.

I was thinking it may just come back to @sohoplace in like a year or so, I cannot see how any other theatres can put this show on with backstage accessibility being a major issue, but I'd love to be wrong! Was an evening I won't be forgetting, incredibly special.

I saw this a few months ago, really enjoyed it and recommended it to a few friends who also all really rated it. It seemed to have critical acclaim and some very loyal fans, so I wonder why ticket sales weren't stronger? I am sure word of mouth lead to quite a few people going, but commercially I wonder why it didn't do as well as you might think.

The producer did allude last night that cold opening a show in the West End is a challenge as most shows get traction from trial runs out of town, but from trying to book tickets, as the run progressed it got slightly more challenging towards the end, so I do think it was becoming more popular as word of mouth spread. Although I'm not an expert on west end ticket sales!

I think fundamentally because it’s a terrible show, it didn’t really have that much critical acclaim, people only really went as it was comped and it didn’t deserve to clog up a theatre for much longer.

Yes, I would imagine word of mouth (personal recommendations), repeat visitors (it had some very loyal fans who went multiple times) and comps were the bulk of it's customers. I can't imagine it was the kind of show tourists would go to whilst in London.
