This wouldn't stand a snowball's chance in hell as a regular production, but as a concert it will probably attract a good mix of Wildhorn fans, fans of the original manga and East Asian culture and whoever gets cast in the leads.
I'd actually be far more interested in this as something fresh and unusual than the rehashes of shows that were in the West End not long ago or the bland stuff Wildhorn churned out for continental Europe on a conveyor belt for years.

Not generally a Wildhorn fan - at all - but having seen the show in Tokyo, I'm interested in seeing this.

I enjoyed both the manga and anime when I was younger so am intrigued to see this. I hope they don't butcher the English translations.

Love the concept album! Don't watch the butchered Netflix version.
Was surprised to see no casting announced as of yet. Was thinking we may see Jeremy Jordan make a return to the UK but not convinced now.

The article above stated English language premiere - I had no idea an English concept album had been floating around all these years.

Had no idea this existed. Not the obvious thing to adapt into a musical. I saw the teaser yesterday, with people guessing Death Note in the comments, and thought ‘no, that can’t actually be a thing.’ Will have to give the recording a listen.

Well this was honestly unexpected! I never imagined that this would ever make it's way over to the West, let alone London, even if it's just a concert. Looks like I'll have to book this when tickets go on sale!

The PR has gone on Twitter today calling it star casting. I hadn't heard of one of the three names at all and none of them are stars. Good performers, yes, but a star is someone known by people other than regular West End theatre goers and whose name instantly puts many bums on seats.

I know it’s only a concert, but Dean-John Wilson as L? Mind well and truly boggled by that piece of casting.

I've only ever seen him in The King and I, but I am baffled. Maybe he looks good in eyeliner.

I was hoping they would cast people who were of Japanese decent for this production, as it just feels right to me personally. But who knows, these guys may knock it out of the park.

I'm a Wildhorn fanatic, so I'll be picking up tickets. This is actually one of his only shows I'm not a huge fan of *but* I feel that I need to support in the hope that this, combined with the decent run of B&C, means we can have Dracula! Or Rudolf! Or Count of Monte Cristo! Or Excalibur! Or what happened to that J&H revival?

I have no idea what this is about. Is it worth me taking a punt on a ticket or will a 60yr old me be totally confused as I feel this my not be my genre

I also have no idea what this is about but I’ve just taken a punt on a £29 grand circle ticket!

These pretty much sold out FAST. Cheapest seats left are £84 - £128. Hope it’s worth it…

Did anyone else have issues actually finding the book tickets option on the website? Took me forever for it to actually appear and when it did, there were a lot of sold out tickets. Cheapest was £40. At least it's clearly popular. Anything with Frances Mayli McCann in is a winner for me (even if I wasn't already intrigued by the story)

This sold very fast! Hopefully an indicator of popularity, and we might see a full production.

Wild to me this has sold out with just those names attached to it The title Death Note is a HUGE anime/manga title and has been done before in South Korea/Japan - I think most of the ticket buyers are likely to be fans of the anime rather than fans of the names attached.

Ah, fair enough.
Literally never heard of it so just assumed it was yet more Frank Wildhorn sludge, which (let's face it) it probably is, but makes sense that there's some name recognition outside of it being a musical.

Wild to me this has sold out with just those names attached to it Don’t underestimate how huge this title is. My two bosses, who aren’t remotely into musical theatre, somehow heard about this and we’re talking about arranging a trip to see it the day after the concert was announced. Death Note has a lot of fans.

I've also had non-theatregoing friends asking me if I wanted to go. We've got quite a keen J-entertainment and anime fanbase here in the UK, especially in London, and concert tickets for Japanese artists often sell out very quickly.
If anyone wants to get a feel for the source material, I'd suggest watching a trailer for the anime (not the live action adaptations) since the manga is quite dialogue heavy.

Managed to snag an £84 ticket this morning! Glad I did, seeing as it sold out so quickly! I honestly did't expect it to sell out this fast, whilst both 'Evita' and 'Love Never Dies' have yet to achieve this.
