This just came through to my inbox.
Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Tony Award-winning Evita returns to the West End this summer!
The all-star concert will take place at the iconic Theatre Royal Drury Lane, accompanied by the 30-piece London Musical Theatre Orchestra.
Auli’i Cravalho, the voice of Disney’s Moana and star of The Little Mermaid Live, makes her West End debut in the title role of Evita, alongside West End leading man Matt Rawle (Martin Guerre, Miss Saigon, Zorro) who returns to the role of Che.

Presale opens Friday 19 May, 10am

Interesting. Will try to get along to this.
It’s a story I don’t know a huge amount about, so if I enjoy it, perhaps I’ll make the effort to see the Curve production later in the year.

Just received this too. Perhaps this week is all about ALW revivals in one form or another! Sadly I’ve not heard of the actors playing Eva or Ché so will probably pass on this one, much as I love Evita 😞

Is this lady any good? I've not heard or her or seen either of the films mentioned.

Doesn't strike me as an obvious choice.

She has a great voice but reads very young for Eva.

But the 4th Wall ones are usually very good and it's a big orchestra so should sound wonderful.

I thought someone would say that. I see he has quite a CV so must just be someone I’ve missed.

Haha fair enough, I guess he has been out of the limelight for a while. He was brilliant in Zorro, Aspects of Love and was the best thing about the last Evita west end revival. At one time he was the go to leading man, more so than Ramin and Hadley

Hmm. Stunt casting again. If you're happy with Evita being a big softy, then this will be fine.

She has a great voice but reads very young for Eva. I think it's about time we had younger Eva's - she WAS young!! Most are too old for the part and look a bit ridiculous in the early scenes.

I'm booking mostly for Matt Rawle. And the show itself of course. Auli'i has a lovely voice but strikes me as far too young for this (although I don't know how old she is). She might be fantastic though, I'm certainly open.

Clashed with this post. I was thinking this also but I don't know - I struggle picturing a teenage looking Eva pulling off the later scenes. Some compromise required age wise either way perhaps!

I'm all for having "Young Eva" and "Eva Eva" in productions, to be honest.

Matt Rawle - superb as the original Martin Guerre. Great as Che at the OAT. I'll be seeing this!

Matt Rawle - superb as the original Martin Guerre. Great as Che at the OAT. I'll be seeing this! Wasn't he Che in the Grandage revival, rather than Open Air Theatre? I've got the London Cast (Grandage revival) CD - played it once; I'm afraid that was due to the soft-voiced version of Che with very little bite.
