Thinking of getting the Theatrecard Classic ATG membership to give me a better chance of decent seats for Sunset Boulevard when it goes on sale. As someone who only tends to go to ATG venues in the West End rather than regionally, would you guys say it’s worth it? Thanks in advance! Depends how many shows you see at their theatres and how many people you book for. Members don't pay the £3.60 (?) booking fee, so 10 tickets a year means you've saved money. It's also worth it for the early booking, especially for a sell-out like Streetcar Named Desire. I haven't used the bar discount, but nice to know it includes free ticket exchanges if needed. Thank you for your reply. Sounds like it’ll be worth it. For the member presales, are members able to just log in and access the booking pages, or do they need a member presale email from ATG? Just concerned that others have reported they don’t always receive the right emails at the right time from ATG! Mods - apologies if this would be better placed in the ATG membership thread - feel free to move if so.

People who don’t get the promo emails just have to rely on other sources to know when it opens. Further discussion of the ATG card here theatreboard.co.uk/thread/272/card-website-call-0330-7200 please!

Almeida and Donmar for me. Almeida was good for the presales in particular. Won't be renewing.

I was sat near a chap in the theatre last night and we were discussing theatre membership. I’m a member of a number of theatres but the one that got us a bit riled is The Bridge Theatre membership. Like me the chap got his membership to get early booking for a number of productions across the year. However, my membership is due renewal at the start of October but there hasn’t been much to benefit this membership this year. There’s one show and there doesn’t appear to be anything shifting at The Bridge before my membership is up for renewal. I used to get at least 3 productions in each year but there’s currently no reason to have it. At least with ATG, ALW, Delfont Mac and NT there are many uses for membership. I wonder if membership will drop off? also does anyone know if The Bridge will be getting something else in soon. I enjoyed Guys n Dolls but I feel miffed it’s all I’ve got to choose from.

For me, it’s the ATG Theatrecard and the NT’s priority membership.I have certainly had plenty of use out of the ATG card over the years (more at regional venues at Manchester and Liverpool than WE) which has been a great investment for me at the £35 per year. Though with the recent price hike, I’ll certainly be doing some number crunching when it comes to renewal time next August to see if it worth continuing with at the £50 price.
The NT one for me has been great at being able to pick off those great £20 front stalls seats early on when booking London theatre trips.
I have just invested in the SWP £75 PAYG scheme for £15 tickets for 5 shows. If a show is great, brilliant it’s a bargain and on the other hand, if a show isn’t great, at least I haven’t spent too much on a ticket.

For you, which are the best theatrical or cinema memberships and what extras do you use?
I’m intrigued by the DMT+ membership. Does anyone use the restaurant discount and get the free champagne/bubbly?

Can’t find a specific DMT+ membership thread, but you can currently book a tour of the Wyndhams for £15. “ Wyndham’s Theatre on Monday 2nd September. We will take a tour of this breathtaking venue before retiring to the Stalls bar for tea, cake and fizz and a Q and A with veteran Theatre Manager, Nicholas Shaw.”
And again for £15 “ Join us in the Delfont Room as our Education Workshop Leader, Rob Parker, takes leads you through this exhilarating choral workshop based around the West End sensation Les Misérables.”

Quick heads up on Royal Opera House membership.
In order to save a bit of cash, I thought I'd let my membership lapse and renew it when I wanted to book something that I thought might be in demand. So signed up again after a 6-month gap and they have processed it as a renewal and backdated my membership to March, meaning I only get six months effective membership! Checked the T&Cs and it is in there, that if you rejoin at *any* point in the 12 months after letting your membership lapse, it will be treated as a renewal and backdated. I can understand that they don't want people joining and leaving based on booking dates, but that is how most theatres operate...
Lesson learned, next year I will let it lapse and then my husband will join as a new member, and we'll just alternate year on year...

Barbican NT Donmar Wigmore Almeida RBO RSC Young Vic Old Vic Royal Court ATG
All for many years
Well worth it for ease of booking
And many can be declared on tax return Making it useful to both the venue and the donor Particularly at higher membership levels
Have let Orange Tree and Glyndebourne lapse

I only just recently started enrolling into theatre memberships. I am currently a Friend of The Other Palace as well as the Watermill Theatre.
Until end of August, I was a member of Royal Albert Hall but unfortunately it was not good value for money for me as I don't attend many things there.

I’ve had memberships of the Royal Court and Bridge and let both lapse because they didn’t put on enough to make me think it was worthwhile keeping them (the one for the Bridge was well before Guys & Dolls, I would have been furious paying for a years membership only to them only out that on)

I had three but none atm; let the NT go during the wokery, Royal Court ran out of <something> and the ROH(&B) quite recently - just taking a break.
I emailed the Tate about membership last week and can't believe they are illegal on the Equality Act. ffs. Loads of help if you want wheelchair access or a carer, nothing for the other 90%. Idiots.

Currently Donmar and Royal Court. Thinking of the NT one as all the cheap seats are gone by the time I get to them.
