Hey, im still looking forward to it (Thaxton has an incredible voice and it'll sound great) but whatever angle Lloyd is going for strikes me currently that it isn't going to work.
Oh, that promo is TERRIBLE 😂
And the ensemble is very much a who's who of...who?

This is cast is too young. How old is the actor playing Ceil De Millie?? Jon Tsouras is Cecil. 41 y/o.

That promo is hilarious. Cannot wait! "In her mansion on Sunset Boulevard, a dead-eyed Norma Desmond aggressively applies face lotion in a desperate attempt to return to the silver screen."

Booking page notes: Monday 9 Oct- Nicole Scherzinger is not scheduled to appear at this performance. An alternate cast member will play the role of Norma Desmond. Their name will be confirmed at a later point. Thursday 12 Oct- Nicole Scherzinger is not scheduled to appear at this performance. Rachel Tucker will be guest starring in the role of Norma Desmond. Surely they won't debut the understudy before Rachel? Understudy Norma now confirmed to be Lara Denning.

Understudy Norma now confirmed to be Lara Denning. Actually just saw a post from Laura Harrison announcing she’s covering Norma too, and Lara’s listed as standby. So guess we’ll find out later which order they go on when they do

Notice the credits of "camera operator"s in the cast? Are we going to have live filming onstage a la "All About Eve" (Ivo Van Hove version)!?

Going by the new photo they’ve used on the poster and that ‘so 80s/camp it’s unreal’ trailer video, something tells me Nicole’s going all out glamour for this, with no ageing make up thank you very much. Time will tell…

I guess we would surmise that, by this casting, their vision of a 1950's Hollywood backlot full of working professionals including actors/designers/writers and crew is a world where anyone over the age of 30 doesn't exist?
I know that 'age-ism' is an underlying theme within the story but seriously?

What's the betting Jamie Lloyd will ditch any hint of "turban-age" in this version?! Very high, I reckon!

Time will tell… Haha, you're right - this works for me lol! Honestly, really don't understand all the negativity and moaning in other posts on here. All the marketing couldn't be clearer - " reimagined." It's gonna be something different! If people don't wanna see Sunset done in a non conventional way - don't go. Also worth mentioning - lots of seats £20/£37.50/£47.50 - it's priced very reasonably so anyone worried it's not gonna be their cup of tea but still interested due to love of the show, doesn't have to pay the earth if they consider it a "risk." Anyway, it's selling pretty well - in a post covid world where advances are less strong, if you compare the seating plans for this in October to the seating plans to other big musicals on same dates, it actually looks pretty healthy. Way way way in excess of what poor Aspects of Love had managed at this stage.

Way way way in excess of what poor Aspects of Love had managed at this stage. All reimagined tells you in that context is that what it won't be. It doesn't tell you what it will be. So it isn't terribly helpful in allowing people to decide whether or not they would like the reimagining. Now of it had said that the reimagined production would be set in the car park of a B&Q just outside Slough, then you have something to work with. Not that I am proposing that as a real production concept, of course. I wouldn't want spoilers for every part of the production. But a bit of detail would be helpful

What's the betting Jamie Lloyd will ditch any hint of "turban-age" in this version?! Very high, I reckon! Final 10 secs only like the classic Evita scraped-back-bun blond wig at OAT?! I do like the camp of a turban so despite being fully onboard with the reimagining lark, I would like "turban-age" (great word) at least nodded to....

In terms of reimagined productions, I am reminded of the RSC Merchant that was set in Las Vegas.
Now we knew in advance that it was a modern setting in a very specific location but not all of the detail.
That was enough to get people speculating and thinking about how that might play out.
So a hint from Lloyd about the general thrust of his thinking for this Sunset would really help
