Pity this is being directed by Max Webster, not one of our better Shakespeare directors.
In addition to the Fiennes/Godwin one (Feb-Mar next year) there is also the RSC production (19-August to 14-October) and the Globe production (21-July to 28-October) so 4 chances to see it within a year, or 3 within 2 months. I know it is a GCSE set book so has a ready-made audience but it would be nice if theatres could coordinate their programming to some extent.
Of these four, on paper the Fiennes production looks by far the most interesting.

At this point - in Donmar programming - we must be into the Longhurst-era endgame; presumably choices pencilled in some time ago and talent approached. So, possibly planned the Scottish early (landing Tennant), but announced last.

I believe that David Tennant has long been eyeing up the right moment and stage for his inevitable Macbeth. I suspect that he will be very very good indeed.

As Tennant was on the RSC Board of Directors throughout Doran’s reign and the RSC have Macbeth scheduled at round the same time I wonder why he isn’t doing it there. Well, I don’t wonder ….. |

He'll surely give us his toned down, Westernised version of a Scottish accent ..
When he did the BBC radio play a year ago, the missus was also Scots (Daniela Nardini). Anyone have a fancy?

I imagine tickets will be like gold dust for this. Would be nice to see it as I’ve only seen him once in Don Juan in Soho, and I really didn’t like that.

Right folks who know, will getting membership of the Donmar be worth it to get a ticket or will those with a higher memberships take up all the tickets? I’ve never been a member of the Donmar but I want to up my odds of getting a ticket. Thoughts?

I’ve never been a member of the Donmar but I want to up my odds of getting a ticket. Thoughts? I used to be a Donmar member. I think it's highly likely, if not 100% likely, that you will get your ticket if you get the membership. You may not get the chance to grab the best seat in the house, but the Donmar is so small that, no matter how far away from the stage you sit, you still get to see all the actors from quite close. |

Even through the Mendes/Grandage glory years there were always tickets left when normal public booking opened - you could speculate how this was achieved. |

Hmmm...saw the NT production with Rory Kinnear as well as Christopher Eccleston's RSC version. A friend wants to go into town to see this. I'm tempted...an excuse to binge on shows for a few days...

I just booked the usual cheap circle row C seat, for both Clyde and Macbeth- the latter doesn't seem to have a lot left!
