I’d just get there a good 40 mins before to soak up the experience & get through any crowds, queue for merch, get a stupid sticker stuck over your drink etc. 🚂 ⚡️ Isn't the sticker so that you don't spill your drink on the track getting to your seat? It is yes, but given that the hole that my straw made soon spread to the size of a 50p I’d say that they aren’t fit for purpose and they should just find some Compostable lids. …and Dr Tom, I was speaking as somebody that has just been the once and had to find the various things for the first time, rather than someone that apparently lives there 😘 |

I'm going to the matinee this Thursday, so excited ! Can anyone tell me what getting in to the venue is like ? I want to make sure we arrive in time to buy a programme etc before it starts ! Enjoy! It is very easy to get in. The usual bag/security checks at the entrance. There's a small outside area with a bar (and people smoking etc). Ticket checks on the main door. A large open space, but it gets quite busy. Merchandise is on the right as you go in. You can't miss it. There's a long bar. Prices clearly displayed and free water in coolers. Toilets way around to the far side. The gents is large and clean. The ladies always has a queue. There's also a cast screen to the right of the bar which is worth checking. It's not always obvious who you're seeing under the costumes/wigs/makeup, especially if you're sat further back. Two main doors into the venue. Door 1, on the left, is easiest for the first class carriages and platforms. You may need ushers to direct you. They don't always send you to the right place, so it's a good idea to check where you're sitting in advance also. It is very hard to leave during the show as the entrances and walkways are the skating areas, so try and use the toilets etc first. Obvious things like keep your hands/belongings well inside the seating area if you're sat by any of the skating areas. I'm sure none of this needs saying, but others may read this and you'll be amazed what some people think is acceptable/sensible. You can film the megamix at the end. It is quite long (over six minutes). Have your phone/camera running when the first bows start as the megamix starts from there without warning. There's next to no mobile data connection in the venue (at least not on 3), so you really have to go outside in the interval if you want to check messages etc. It might only be me who does this. I agree completely regarding lids. I haven't moved in yet as I haven't found the sleeping area (and the music is too loud). |

I mentioned the first time I went that the disco light reflection on the floor made me slightly nautious as I walked along (at my age I need to look at the floor when walking) and same thing happened the 2nd time. I've heard other people mention this too and one of the national papers reviews also commented in it.
Must say when I saw the stickers at the theatre I had no idea at first they were for drinks. Thought they were just giant stickers they gave to kids and was about to ask for one.

I'd advise getting the Met Line over Jubilee as it skips a lot of stations I'll be coming from the other direction, down the Met line from the sticks, but thanks ! Is it ok to take a bottle of water and some chocolate in ? I'll be sure to report back. I'm too young to have seen the original (I would have just been old enough to go to the 90s version just before it closed, but my Mum wouldn't go because she was annoyed that they had changed lots of bits and 'ruined' it !), but I've been in love with the original cast recording for years and I've been hoping desperately that it would come back. I'm varying between super excited to see it, and worried that it won't live up to my expectations. Fingers crossed ! |

Thank you so much for all this information. I'm very much not a seasoned theatre-goer so it's really helpful. What are they checking bags for ? Is it ok to take a bottle of water and some chocolate in ? You'll be fine taking a small bag in. We took a bag in last week. The foyer area is unlike most other theatres, full of glitterballs and very large.The venue itself is also quite unique so I'm sure you will have a great time. |

Water and chocolate is fine. I did see someone who was rather upset that they had to hand over their meal (I heard the word "smelly" mentioned, but I didn't stop to see what it was).

I never get why people bring full meals to anything never mind the theatre. Eat before you go in, Wembley for example is not short of places to sit down. |

Do we need to stage an intervention? Only if you can stage it on roller skates! I know you jest, but there always seems to be a show I see multiple times. This is going to tail off as I have other commitments and I rather suspect there's no need to hurry back as this will run for a long time. What I really want to do is see some of the other covers. I've not seen an official alternate schedule anywhere yet, but I'm holding out that Asher will get his Rusty debut before too long! |

Do let us know what you think. We thought it was bonkers and brilliant ! I think I would have enjoyed it more if I didn't have preconceived ideas as I was a bit sad at how many of my favourite songs were missing, and we thought there was a bit of an issue at times with the music being so loud that you couldn't really hear the singing; but it was still fab. Control was absolutely amazing (well all the cast were, but I always love it when little kids do such a great job !). |

I mean it's true but they should say it's on the Metropolitan Line that it's two stops, it's much longer on the Jubilee Line or Bakerloo Line. I deliberately booked on a day when there were no events at Wembley Stadium and I'm sure many did the same. |

Yes I always check in advance if anything at Wembley before booking for the Troubadour
Mind you I sometimes come unstuck getting through Stratford as there is quite often some random thing going on in didn't know about.

Most tourists wouldn't even think about how busy Wembley gets with other events.
I do think they've made the right decision here by having early starts and finishes for the weekend shows, so attendees (and cast/crew etc) miss the worst of the disruption.
At one point, I was thinking the Wembley Park area wouldn't be a bad place to live, but then I saw how mad it gets and how frustrating it must be for anyone local just trying to go about their life. They even have security checking you live there before you can get near the apartment blocks. Only advantage is, if you have a spare bedroom, I'm sure you could cover a lot of your rent on Airbnb (having seen hotel prices).
