That seems like an awful lot of expense and bother to go to? Like we’ve said earlier, theres no substage or anywhere to put the mechanics so it would be tricky. Excited to see what they do. No idea tbh as I've never seen inside the Troubadore, was just a fantasy haha. Although isn't it basically an empty hall? Wouldn't it arguably be easier installing something of that level there than in a more tradional theatre?

I don’t think much set will be moving as there’s so many BMX tracks, as well as the expected roller skate ones, in this production.
Also I think most of the cast are grads because the pay is so appalling. They’d struggle to find more established willing to take such a pay cut.

The worst it can be for ensemble is equity minimum of £880 per week for 8 shows, plus the additional add ons for understudies, performances on etc. A basic of £3520 p/m isnt bad for your first professional job straight after college.

Correction: they’re on UKT contracts so the minimum for Tier A is £527.13.

So about £27.5k a year. A decent starting salary outside of London for somebody at the beginning of their career. Is that the very base before cover/understudy payments?

Yes, I as going to say they're definitely not on equity contracts - Troubadour has some weird agreement with SOLT to make it eligible for Oliviers but otherwise it's not 'West End'

Is it not a decent starting salary? Has peoples sense of financial worth really risen to such entitled heights where you don’t have to work your way up a ladder?

I see so many performers who live out and rely on trains & tubes to get them home at night. Parts of Herts & Middlesex etc are still only thirty mins out without central rent prices.

In fairness, I don't know if I would be that pumped to deal with train strikes in the middle of summer after a 9 show week on roller skates.

On TodayTix it says first class carriage seats move during the performance. I guess we’ll have to wait and see… I think it's been said before, but when I bought my tickets, it clearly said that the seats will move, and the area will not be completely accessible throughout the whole show. However, when you look at buying tickets now it just says about them being next to the race tracks, and therefore not fully accessible. Guess we'll have to wait and see... Part of me was hoping, because of the way the stage and seats are laid out, is that the whole stage and first few blocks of seats would be on a revolve, like at the Gillian Lynne. So, it seems the ‘moving seats’ will no longer move. Email received from KX Tickets at the Troubadour; “While we secure the latest and most exciting technologies to ensure the trackside seats are the ultimate Starlight Express experience, we expect these seats will no longer move so we can integrate some of our latest discoveries…” The theatre has offered to change seats, but won’t offer refunds as the show is still going ahead.

27k is more or less the new London living wage now that the minimum wage went up. But realistically, that's not enough to live in London, all the money is gone after rent and living expenses. I assume actors also need to give their agents a cut.
Workers should be able to live in the town they're working. Moving outside isn't even that much cheaper, just increases travel costs.

Sounds suspiciously like VR headsets to me but I could be wrong. I’ve not heard anyone else say that.

You’re saving lives rather than choosing to play pretend for a living. Both valid jobs if you want to do them, but the lack of self awareness is hilarious.

Funnily enough someone else on Facebook emailed KX tickets and was told the seats would still move. But was a much shorter reply than the e-mail to the person saying they would no longer move. I do think it's much more likely that indeed they will not move.
I do think the ticketing customer enquires people don't really know much in the way of details on the actual production though!
VR headsets sounds pretty unlikely to me.
(Personally I don't massively see the appeal of moving seats but people on FB getting very upset about it, wanting refunds etc etc - I guess if you feel you've been mis-sold something. And to the extent they are good, I personally prefer watching them rather than moving myself. The best Cats and Cinderella views I thought was the section just in front (or behind depending which way you look at it) the moving platform where you could observe the platform going through 180 degrees!)

Most of the public sector (including roles requiring specific degrees/training) start on salaries lower than those being discussed here so I honestly can't see what the issue is.
