I hadn't started season 4 yet so I wouldn't have to wait weekly for episodes, but my sister warned me to catch up to avoid spoilers for episode 3 and now having seen it I'm very glad she did as I would have been devastated to have that spoiled!

What is it? Who is in it? Why is it good? How do we watch it? It's an HBO series about a Rupert Murdoch-like patriarch, played by Brian Cox, and his children vying for control of the company now that he's getting on in years and his health is failing him. It's basically a drama with a healthy dose of black comedy and it's just fun to watch these pretty awful people fighting amongst themselves and seeing how the power balance shifts. The writing is also very sharp and the acting across the board is phenomenal (it's won a bunch of Emmys basically every season and with how the current one is going it'll probably win loads again this year). And for those looking for a British theatre connection, Lucy Prebble is a writer and executive producer on the show. You can watch it on NowTV or rent the first 3 seasons on Amazon, the 4th season is currently airing. |

I'll binge this after the last Ep.
I think the 'best show on Tv' reputation it has is a joke though.
It's probably the most overrated show on Tv since The Sopranos.

Think it is the best show on tv at the moment. What are the rivals? But it is a little way down the best ever lists. (Is that what you meant?) Very well written helps and this has led to some really good episodes. I’m a Sopranos fan so probably not the one to speak to if we are comparing the best. |

I watched the first 3 seasons which was more than enough to form an opinion on it and am currently on Ep 3 of season 4, which is once again just the same sh*t different season. If you find horrible people being horrible to other horrible people entertaining then good luck to you, but personally I find the whole thing a struggle and bore to get through as I literally have no interest in how these types of scumbags live. |
