People have been criticising the live action remakes for years, but surely this is getting ridiculous even for Disney. To quote Lindsay Ellis “and when [Bob] Iger saw the breadth of his domain, he wept, for there were no more properties to remake”

I'm surprised they chose Moana over Frozen for a live action remake.
We're seeing more recent movies being remade as live action films, Universal and DreamWorks are doing a live action remake of How to Train Your Dragon and that came out in 2010.

If done properly, this could be not only exciting but visually stunning, delving back into Polynesian customs and traditions, with custom choreography.
It'd also be interesting to see the moving tattoos on Maui's would look and work.
Also scenically this could be a sensory overload with hibiscus flower and lai's.

Why? It's perfect animated. Even more pointless is the fact that the same leas actors and same writers are back. Absolutely pointless. Obviously ir will make squillions for Disney so that's good, for them.

Obviously ir will make squillions for Disney so that's good, for them. One Dwayne Johnson is back, Auliʻi Cravalho is only onboard as an Executive Producer. Since her casting wasn't mentioned in the original announcement yet her role as EP was it gives the impression she won't return to the role. I do find this one a bit odd, even though I have nothing against the live action remakes, but I think seeing that part of the world in a huge budget movie will be fantastic. Although, I think a far more interesting route would be to a live action sequel to to the original animated movie.

Frozen is still very much an active franchise with a 3rd movie in the works.
