I'm a bit lost with this now; is it still the Jamie Lloyd London production that didn't play in London?
Scratch that; it is.

This review from the New York Times (gift link) is consistent with my experience of the show as does its sub-hed summary: "Jamie Lloyd’s compelling, surgically precise revival of Ibsen’s 1879 drama throbs like an episode of 'CSI: Norway.'" Couple of good photos as well.

This production has great reviews so far, and Jessica’s stage acting has improved compared from her previous stint (The Heiress on Broadway in 2012). I wonder if they will push through again with the London transfer. Maybe the UK critics will be nicer to her performance over Amy Adams…

Saw it tonight and after the reports of no sets and no props which made me think it was going to be a remix of The Seagull, I was rather impressed with it by the time it finished :Jessica Chastain is on stage for about 90% of proceedings and while I wouldn’t concur with the woman behind me who just before it started felt the need to say out loud ‘she’s the finest female actress of her generation!’ I thought she did a damn good job in this.
While the lack of props meant it took a few leaps of faith when people said things like they were going to open a letterbox or were reading what was in it, and the prerecorded children’s voices could have been done with kids that didn’t sound like 70s moppets that failed their auditions at the Mickey Mouse Club, when it got to the end, I could totally understand the lack of sets: when Jessica Chastain leaves the stage, her exit was novel to say the least (I had to go round the back of the theatre to see if it was real 😝)

Well this was wonderful. It’s a very simplistic production as expected but it worked well for this (probably helped that I’d read the play last year prior to seeing ADHP2). Jessica is delivering a really brilliant performance and is sure to be Tony nominated for it. Hope it does come to London because I’ll be back in a flash.

In my dreams, I would get to pull up a chair next to Chastain/Nora in her lengthy pre-show revolve and when our backs would be to the audience, we'd whisper things to each other.

I watched the filmed version of David Byrne’s American Utopia which was filmed at the Hudson Theatre earlier, and at the end he jumps on his bike and rides off into the night on Broadway: I’m wondering if this was the inspiration for the ending of this (not to spoil it, but Jessica Chastain does not do any cycling in this 😝)

Jessica had her hair dyed blonde for the Met Gala yesterday and looked 😍: I wonder if she’ll keep that look for performances of this or it will wash out and she will return to her normal look.

Media reports said she was wearing a wig.

She posted an Instagram reel showing her make up and wig done for the Met Gala! And her latest IG story is that she passed by her alma mater, Julliard, on the day of the Tony nominations, and said that she’s back with her real hair! I still prefer her ginger color as it makes her stand out. Her blonde era reminded me of one of her older movies, A Most Violent Year.
So it’s Jodie versus Jessica at the Tonys!! Or Villanelle versus Tammy Faye 🤭 (we could have had Midge Maisel in the roster, but sadly Rachel Brosnahan was snubbed, but her play got in the Best Play Revival with the last-minute Broadway transfer)

It's rare I get goosebumps during a theatre performance but this was one of them (and I had already seen the NT Live screening last year). Probably one of the best performances in theatre I have seen, although I agree the play is a little weak in some places overall. Jessica was also outstanding but felt a little forced in places. I also struggled to fully believe the relationship dynamics with Arian Moayed. They didn't seem to have much chemistry between them to be honest. Overall it was a good production but in my opinion, the weakest overall in Jamie Lloyd's trio including Cyrano de Bergerac and The Seagull. I did happen to meet Jessica after at stage door. I don't usually hang around after a show but I was leaving a bar opposite and the actors had just come out (apparently they were late that evening as they were celebrating their Tony nominations which had been announced earlier in the day). I have to say she is genuinely one of the nicest celebrities I have come across. She spent a lot of time ensuring everyone got an autograph and also answered a few technical questions from aspiring actors who had waited to see her. Well deserved Tony nomination but Jodie's performance is a far greater feat overall.

Well deserved Tony nomination but Jodie's performance is a far greater feat overall. I completely agree with all of these comments. Jodie’s performance, both in the West End and on Broadway, was probably the best performance I’ve seen on a stage. I liked Jessica’s performance very much, but it’s not on the same level. That said, there’s much more to work with with a play like Prima Facie, despite its limitations as a text. In general I’m not a fan of Jamie Lloyd’s minimalism and would have much preferred to see Jessica’s take on the role under a different director. I still think she was great for what this was, but as a production it could have been so much more. I also met her after the performance and she couldn’t have been more lovely! She seems a genuinely nice person all round. Had time for absolutely everybody.

Only ten shows left, well worth seeing if you’re in the vicinity (wouldn’t say it’s so good it’s worth flying to New York just to see it though)

Sorry to bump this thread, but does anyone know of any plans to transfer this to London? After SUNSET, I would love to see anything else Jamie Lloyd gets his hands on.

Sorry to bump this thread, but does anyone know of any plans to transfer this to London? After SUNSET, I would love to see anything else Jamie Lloyd gets his hands on. I remember listening to a radio show (the link was posted on here somewhere I think) where Jessica Chastain said something along the lines of 'it will have another life sometime next year', which I had assumed meant it was coming to the West End. I really hope it does considering it was actually planned to open here first before Covid hit. Big Jamie Lloyd fan here too. Not sure what else he has lined up for 2024 though, if anything.

Thanks! Here’s hoping that it happens.
I know there is the rumoured Broadway transfer of SUNSET, but hopefully Lloyd still has time to do something in London.
