Saw this tonight and thought it was brilliant. Although 10 mins into it I was thinking oh god I’m gonna hate this, it was the euro dance that put me off. But there’s loads of catchy songs from various genres that I grew up with, and it’s not got that cheesy Six factor. I thought the choreography was especially great.
I was there on a freebie tonight and it looks like 90% of the audience was too as everyone was from the industry. They also filmed tonight’s show. I’d love a cast recording!

Managed to grab a £17.55 ticket for closing night so couldn’t help but find myself in the Lyric Theatre for this once again.
Still love it! Zizi is incredible. I’d love a cast recording.

I forgot to mention that I thought The Cardinal ironically looked like a Hari Krishna!

I saw this at the matinee yesterday and thought it was truly AWFUL in every department ( except of course for Zizi who brought a joy and conviction to the part which was lacking from everyone else.
To say it's "part" Hamilton or "Six" doesn't begin to describe it. I found it to be a ripoff not an homage, or anything remotely polite - there isn't an original thought, concept or movement on that stage which hasn't been present in another musical of the last ten years ( and in the case of the two women at the end - one in green and the other in pink - twenty years: it looked like rejected artwork for "Wicked" . The Sound was so loud as to make most of the lyrics unintelligible ( which come to think of it might be a good thing) the music was generic and bombastic as well as evaporating while we listened to it. The Cardinal character is ridiculous and a total Hamilton "King George III " ripoff and as for any kind of narrative or even a glimmer of substance in the "book" there was none. Nor was there any wit. This show was all flash with no heart, moral, insight or joy. A Vile overlong afternoon. Bleah!

I loved this myself, though I can see the brash style won't be to all tastes. It's a great score, and if they can even out the book which is not always easy to follow, and fix the Cardinal (who just doesn't work and borders on the offensive at times) I could see this being a big hit. As pretty much everyone has said, Strallen's doing amazing work and I enjoyed the strong dance emphasis a lot. It'll be interesting to see how this evolves!

I do hope they’ve made some changes. I loved it at the Lyric but some things were a bit naff.

Surely got to be for the gap between fantastically great women and Percy Jackson?

Damn! Wasn’t sure if I’d be interested, but they’ve got Zizi again
I’d watch her read the dictionary. She’s just that good

I'm actually loving the programming for The Other Palace this year. THIS is what it should all be about. Home for new musicals to have proper productions which wouldn't fit the typical West End houses.

I saw this last year. Someone had a free ticket. As good as Zizzi Strallen was, I don't need to see this again.

The current Today Tix "from" £15 offer for this show includes the front row at that price. It's usually marketed as restricted view but I've never found it to be the case - just VERY close to the performers !
I've booked.

Went to the first preview last night and they just weren’t ready and the cast did the best they could but it was a bit of a shambles tbh. The show stopped after the first song ,tech issues I think with the on stage plinth thing which was a problem all night with technicians having to keep coming on stage to work on it. I really like the songs and cast but it was in much better shape at The Lyric I think Will go back in a week or so when hopefully all the issues will be sorted. Saw Jenny Seagrove the BKL chairperson and Paul Taylor Mills at the end in deep discussion! I sat in Row A on the angle and paid £13 from Today Tix,view was fine but not the comfiest of seats and with the delay was sat in it for over 2 hours!

I saw it last night (Row A but to the side) and was mostly impressed, though I think it's a rare example of a musical that I think would have benefitted by being about half an hour longer. It's got some great songs and the plot's solid, {Spoiler - click to view} but Jean's arrest and the trial seem rushed, and we're supposed to believe by the end that Jean loves Marie, even though they only spent about half an hour together, so it doesn't have the emotional heft that it wants us to feel. I'm also not sure that the most of the cast needed to be in lingerie the whole time either, I get it that the final days of Paris were a decadent period, but there are other ways of showing that. I've no interest in burlesque and have never been to a burlesque show, but last night Cake kind of felt like one in places. Still, for what I paid I really enjoyed it, and would recommend it to anyone who likes this genre of musicals.

I enjoyed it but did get a bit lost with the story towards the end and actually thought to myself did I zone out and miss a massive part of the story as it felt rushed and some of it didn’t make sense towards the end
Quite a few kids who obviously thought they were coming to see another incarnation of Zizi playing Mary Poppins!! In fact a mother and daughter from my row left and didn’t come back in
Some of the songs were catchy and definitely inspired by Six, doesn’t help that 3 of the cast have been in Six. I listened to Two Birds One Stone on Apple Music on the way home
Was a good way to spend a Sunday

Quite a few kids who obviously thought they were coming to see another incarnation of Zizi playing Mary Poppins!! Haha, in this, Mary Poppins she is not! I saw it way back last spring at MAST Studios in Southampton, front row seats, and didn’t know where to look at a few points!
