That is a shame. And oooh, Angry Lloyd Webber! Love it "....and she'll not get her Tony award" let's face it, if it's possible to get a Tony for being on stage for 10 minutes and singing one song (twice) then it's a complete joke anyway. She's choosing the opportunity that gives her maximum exposure in the country where her career is most successful. I think she's very wise. Broadway probably forms part of her future strategy but she's making hay while the sun shines in the UK. Clever Nicky.

I agree. She chose the best opportunity. Kudos to her. Tony wise, you never know how it goes, but given how amazing THIS season was and how competitive it is, I highly doubt she would have been nominated let alone win. Betty Buckley's win was when Cats was a total novelty and was competing against very mainstream roles. To portray a homeless cat at that time must have been really cutting edge.

I disagree. X factor is dieing and to come back to it seems a silly move as it won't expose her to any new audience. It didn't help her music career first time around and she has now alienated her biggest supporter jn the theatre community. Broadway would have given her bigger exposure in the USA and given her some legitimacy in the USA as a musical theatre actress.

She could have a great theatre career but has chosen a naff dying reality show

This contract thing all seems terribly lax in this business we call 'show'.

I think Simon Cowell just wants someone younger and stunning sitting next to him. Nicole not stupid, she knows she get a lot of publicity doing X factor. I won't be suprised if she reunites with Lewis Hamilton either

Seems like karma- given the way ALW has mistreated artists including Lupone and Dunnaway in the past.
Maybe Nicole just realized Broadway would not fall down at her feet.

Way too young for Grizabella- apparently age appropriacy is old hat.

Good lord, can you imagine casting Cats with performers who are age-appropriate to the cats? You'd have babies and toddlers and Grizabella would be considered ridiculously ancient if she was played by anyone older than 20.

In no universe the role of Grizabella should be able to win a Tony in the first place.

I think they'll want a Brit for Deena. So that leaves us with Alesha Dixon then...

A few minutes later she posted, in response to someone asking if she would do the role: "I used to sing that when I played Demeter in the Original Broadway production and I saw #grizabella was trending on twitter."
