One of the best plays I've seen this year, I thought it was a shame it did not transfer from Chichester... No, a brand new play in development. Though I would love to see Sing Yer Heart Out at the NT as well. |

The former has never had a play at the NT has he ? The latter has - the last in 2003 ? Good luck to all concerned if it's him. |

It would be a thinly-fictionalised Sir David Hare character telling us his own reaction to such an email exchange. I read that the noted class warrior Sir David Hare recently attended a party in the House of Lords to celebrate a book launch by his chum the advertising executive Maurice Saatchi, Margaret Thatcher's favourite ad man. Interestingly Saatchi cheerfully admits to having never in his entire life cooked a meal, made a bed, or entered a supermarket. One assumes that Sir David Hare has managed at least one of those, probably as research for one of his hard-hitting socialist plays. Saatchi also had a huge statue made of his late wife, got John Major to unveil it, and then breakfasted with it every morning for seven years. How the other half live, eh ? |

Despite the fact that 2023 is not projected to be a good year for the cultural sector, I'm dreaming of a better job with more hours in a bigger venue or back in a museum again. Send good vibes...

I'm looking forward to how Standing at the Sky's Edge is received in London. Then in the summer there's the new production of Miss Saigon at the world-famous Crucible Theatre. Will you be giving us your helicopter at every performance, our david, or is it just a one-off for TB members? It's looking like a good year for regional theatre in t'north. Bolton Octagon has Spring and Port Wine with Mina Anwar and Les Dennis, followed by the European premiere of The Book of Will; Hull Truck has Mumsy, a local story, by Lydia Marchant, one of its affiliate artists; Gus Gowland's Mayflies has its world premiere at York Theatre Royal; In Dreams, the new musical featuring the songs of Roy Orbison, opens at Leeds Playhouse in July. |

Well, funnily enough I’m currently in negations with the producers as we speak TallPaul as to my performance schedule. Though I might be a bit cheeky and keep it a mystery as to when I might turn up. It seems to work for a couple of WE shows that shall not be be mentioned. |

Currently, more of a dream for the train strikes to end so I can actually book stuff with the confidence of being able to actually get to the theatre! The last 2 theatre weekends I've done, I booked the coach from Manchester in case the trains were'nt running on the days i was travelling. For my upcoming one in March, I've booked the coach and that's it. I won't take the risk now. |

Dancing at Lughnasa at the National is what I'm most looking forward to. It's a lovely cast and it should be lovely to see it in the Olivier. In Ireland I'm excited to see Calam Lynch in Mark O'Rowe's new version of Ghosts although I think they've missed a trick by not casting him alongside his mother (the glorious Niamh Cusack). Anyway a Cusack on the Abbey stage is a rare and generally magical thing and talent has never skipped a generation there. In London I'm looking to be cheered up so Crazy for You and La Cage aux Folles (as long as they don't do anything to mess it up) are on the wish list.
