Good on him. Doubt if I ever get to his age I'd want to be still working but great to think there will be at least 1 more Sondheim musical.

Confirmed for Broadway next year. The real question is... by who?

The website in their bio doesn't look promising at all.

Shame - I was positively quivering with excitement for a second there.

Disappointing someone went to all that effort for the hoax. What on earth is the point?
Well plenty of Sondheim around with Into The Woods & Merrily We Roll Along.
Imagine this show will emerge in some form depending on how happy Sondheim was with the workshop version. At the least, in concert, as a work-in-progress.

In my dreams, one day there is a Sondheim review called Unfinished Business featuring all of his most acclaimed interpreters performing any and all numbers from his archive that never made it to a fully staged production.

I wonder who if anyone will come aboard to complete the score. Adam Guettel would be my most likely candidate, or Maury Yeston has form as a show doctor and both like weird offbeat projects.

I was wondering that, I think we have 3 options 1. Present it as Sondheim left it 2. Get someone to compose the rest 3. Use some cut songs from other shows and perhaps compose in the blanks!
Could one of our smashing mods change the title of the thread to Here we are - new sondheim & Ives, or something similar. Please and ta

This is incredibly exciting! I would be off to New York like a shot if I can get a ticket. I’ve signed up to their newsletter, but will probably need a membership to get a ticket. This would be a perfect combination with the Broadway MERRILY.
I’m not sure about the title - I think I prefer Sondheim’s original SQUARE ONE. I’m also not sure how I would feel about someone finishing his work.

We’ll have “Sweeney” (by many considered his best), “Merrily” (his biggest flop) and this, his newest and last all playing at the same time. A fascinating trio of shows playing together.

Now, if we can just get crackin' on that Forum revival.

I’m up for a “Forum” revival as long as Corden stays a million miles away from it.

Such amazing news! And I'm sure it'll make its way to this side of the Atlantic before too long. I agree though that Square One is a much better title. Here We are is very nondescript and generic, to the extent I keep thinking it's called Here We Go.

I guess it's a matter of opinion but for me- as brilliant as Sweeney is (and it really is) Sunday is a work of art (no pun intended) and is completely in a league of its own.

Everyone has their own VERY strong opinion about which Sondheim show is his best. For me, it’s an easy answer. “Into the Woods”. But a good friend of mine says it’s “Do I Hear a Waltz” and can list a hundred (wrong) reasons why it’s so. But I love how so many theater people could, without any preparation, get up in front of a room and give a 90 minute speech on why their favorite Sondheim show is his best.

Am I the only one who practices this speech on the first of every month ... just in case? Oh my.
