Thought this was an interesting article in the stage - producer Jamie Wilson has made a 10 year deal with the owners of the Shaftesbury to programme shows at the venue, starting with Mrs Doubtfire. His other productions in the works currently include The Devil Wears Prada, The Notebook and Night at the Museum - so it would seem this might be their likely future home if they turn up in London. www.thestage.co.uk/news/exclusive-jamie-wilson-to-programme-shaftesbury-theatre-under-10-year-deal

I can't think of any other tie-ups like this, between theatre and producer. Is it a first?

Thank you, Jon. I was still in short trousers 10 years ago! 😉 What happened? ATG and Sonia Friedman Productions are one and the same, so that's a different type of theatre owner/producer relationship.

But it is fundamentally a producer and theatre owner tie in, regardless. It's a working contractual relationship between theatre (group) and producer - be it in the form of a partner company (SFP) or a 'Principal Producer deal' (Wilson). It's still just a legal agreement at the end of the day, however it's framed.
