Evening Standard just gave it 3 stars. Says that Danny Dyer doesn't really come into it for an hour but praises Simon Lipkin.

Well that how I read it.

Has anyone sat in the £18.50 seats at the side of the stalls? How restricted are they?

Thank you to everyone who has posted about the £18.50 side stalls tickets. I was going to Nativity on my own but have now booked two more tickets for my wife and daughter to join me

A musical that is a limited run would have been running for the hills that why I swerved on this first time round.
However the £18.50 tickets and the great word of mouth on here, also a couple of songs I really enjoyed listening to on the The Elaine Paige show especially Hollywood is Coming this had me running down the hill and up it again, to see this, this afternoon. Which in turn was a very enjoyable show and parts had me laughing out loud, as Debbie Book Book hits the tender spot several times. So with a mince pie, a glass of brandy and this should have you in the Christmas cheer, however did find the second half to drag a little bit, one of the pitfalls when you have the composer and director as the same person, this wa directed by Debbie Isitt.
The front of house management is a mess, arrived 15 minutes before curtain, only to find I was standing in a not moving queue for 10 minutes, when we did and by the time I picked up my ticket I missed the first 5 minutes, so my advice would be is to have your tickets mailed to you, even if you have to pay a small charge.
Was Jo Brand really in this.
4 Stars

Really annoying how they're getting people in by sticking Jo Brand and Danny Dyer's name in the forefront for this show.
Obviously clever marketing but come on...

What pissed me off was Jo Brand got the biggest applause at bows when it was Lipkin, Garnham, Brady and Gray who owned the show. Guest stars such as Brand and the Dyers should not be advertised as “starring” in the show.

I actually quite liked Jo Brand in this

Yes, I thought she was funny, but the real star of the show is Simon Lipkin, let's be real, and he deserves way more credit.

Just got my pre-visit email from Eventim for tomorrow. Are security and food/drink restrictions really as strict as they say? (It sounds like an email for a gig - no food / drink at all, full body scanning etc...)

Just got my pre-visit email from Eventim for tomorrow. Are security and food/drink restrictions really as strict as they say? (It sounds like an email for a gig - no food / drink at all, full body scanning etc...) To answer my own question security was horrible. No queue when I got there but setup like festival entry. Metal detector on entry with a tray for mobile phone and keys. I got the unhelpful command ‘bags’ which upon requesting clarification meant ‘if you wouldn’t mind awfully could you please place your bags atop this tray so I can have a good old rummage and remove your canned beverage which surely to Betsy you knew was a sin to possess’. They let me keep the contents of my can in one of their cups though which was nice. No cast board or interest in advising if it was a full cast from front of house, just an assumption that it was full cast. £10 for a programme with mr Dyer’s smug mug getting a full page didn’t appeal to me either. My seat was amazing. One of the first lot of restricted view side stalls but other than the tall guy in front and the occasional living room piece of set it was perfect. Show was as lovely as I remember. I adore Simon Lipkin. I hope he is in the next tour as it is finally coming to Southampton! The longer run this year was always going to make it a harder sell but I think inserting 3 names compared to 1 last year was too much. As well as a daughter there was added back story and a song for the Hollywood producer. Patricia burns. Well, yes. Jo was fine but not needed. Simon or the kids deserve the final bow. The kids were fab, I don’t think I’ll ever work out how many kids are actually in Mr Madden’s class but I thinks it’s 10 most of the time! 16 in Me Shakespeare’s class I think. Another change I noticed was the ‘tattle’ is now the male PE teacher rather than a female. He has snigger moment of redemption than I remember too. This ended up longer than I intended!

So glad you enjoyed this! To answer a few of your questions ; - Simon Lipkin is confirmed to be returning for the Tour and London Stint next year - I agree that he was a real asset to the show in general ! - The more featured kids are all Mr Madden’s Class, however when quick changes happen for the children, a few Oakmoor kids stand in to give the kids a little rest. I worked this out since a girl arrived in an assembly scene with blue uniform but a red scrunchie in her hair! Oakmoor children are used heavily at the end “performance” segment of the show to beef up the numbers! Did anyone notice that during Sparkle and Shine this year, the giant stairs for the adults was lost? I wonder why? Finally, it’s amazing how the band is only 5 people! Obviously lots of pre recorded music is used and pre recorded vocals for the kids in ensemble songs. Overall, a great show!

Seen this a few days ago and thought it was great and had a huge smile on my face. Never seen the movie(s) before, but I'll definitely catch up. Simon Lipkin was amazing, and I was so happy to see Ashleigh Gray on stage again. It's been quite a while.
Jo Brand (I only know her from QI) was bearable, but the two Dyers were miscast and really bad. What on earth were they thinking?
As usual, I had to collect my ticket from the box office, but luckily I could bypass the queues for regular entrance and go directly to the box office to pick up my ticket. Oddly, I didn't have to go through the metal detectors and only had someone have a glance in my bag. But still: This is theatre and no effing airport.

Cant say I've ever been much of a Rylan fan but he was one of the judges as last years west end Eurovision and he was hilarious. So my opinion of him did change a bit.

I think he's the perfect fit, although I am sort of surprised they haven't convinced Alan Carr to reprise the role he created for the films.
I didn't realise they already confirmed Simon Lipkin is returning as Mr Poppy, it's great to see him return for what now has become an annual theatre tradition.

I absolutely loved the musical first time around with Messrs Lipkin and Boys but this casting has made me not want to return for a 2nd visit. However it will bring the punters in so good luck to them.

However it will bring the punters in so good luck to them. I hate the stunt casting of this, I think Louis Walsh parachuted in well enough in 2017 but last year was silly with Danny, Dani and Jo. The story was changed and a character added (not sure if Polly was in the original but definitely bulked out if she was!). They've done it again this year for Sharon. I'm sure the number of peformances Danny or Rylan are missing will cause issues too! I am seeing it at Southampton because I will miss all the fuss. I will miss Simon Lipkin too (who I adore) but am sure the new Mr Poppy will Sparkle and Shine!
