Based on the film with Martin Freeman.
Written and directed by Debbie Isitt (writer and director of the films), music and lyrics by Isitt and Nicky Ager, choreography by Andrew Wright and design by David Woodhead.
Opens at the Birmingham REP in October 2017 before touring over next Christmas. Includes a run at the Hammersmith Apollo.

I didn't mind the first film but the second and third films were pretty awful! Wonder if Marc Wootton will reprise the role of Mr Poppy.

The workshop footage shows Simon Lipkin and Daniel Boys involved (and a few others who I don't recognise).

Simon Lipkin probably is playing Mr Poppy in the workshop and Boys the Martin Freeman character.
The venues they're touring are a mismatch of sizes. The Hammersmith Apollo is huge and I do wonder if it'll get lost in the bigger venues like the Manchester Palace.

The first one was good fun, the second okay but the third was terrible. I hope it does not keep going downhill from here, This could be good but probably will just be bad and okay at best. Let's hope it at least sparkle and shines.

The Birmingham REP's stage is actually quite big, so as it is being built there then I'm sure the set will fill it, and for Manchester, Hammersmith and Leeds. It will probably just be modified for the smaller venues (Southend, Sheffield and Belgrade, Coventry - who are apparently producing but doesn't say anything about heading there yet).

Sarah Earnshaw is such a great choice for Jennifer! Not who I expected though. I hope we get to hear her full out belting in this show

I came upon the film over Christmas knowing nothing about it and decided to watch it. Have to say I really enjoyed it and thought it was great fun. Some good songs too. So with the added attraction of Messrs Boys and Lipkin (who are two of my favourite performers) being on stage together its just got to be done and I will have to see it. Not sure I fancy Hammersmith Apollo so think I might try Southend or even combine it with a pre Christmas visit to my family in Cornwall and see it in Plymouth.

So is Wind in the Willows a limited run? Yes, followed by a potential tour I believe.

So is Wind in the Willows a limited run? Yes, I *think* that was always the plan if I remember correctly!

I hope the rest of the score is better than that. It is clearly a pastiche on the Coke advert 'Holidays are Coming'but not a good one.
I do like the original film and it could make a sweet family show - but it needs better musical material to capture my attention.
Fingers crossed for the rest of it

It is clearly a pastiche on the Coke advert 'Holidays are Coming'but not a good one. But if they drive a big red truck onto the stage during the show, I'm there to see that happen. You never know. The Leeds Grand Theatre does have a truck lift so modern pantechnicons can use the scenery dock.
Get your train tickets booked!

Am seeing his in Birmingham on November 5th. Seems a bit early for Nativity but hey! Main reason for seeing this is for Daniel Boys. I love his voice.
