As a side note, before the show we went to eat in the terrace restaurant which is now called Bobs Lobster at Terrace. What a rip off. I ordered croquettes and £8 and Arancini at £9. I got 2 croquettes and 1 arancini for my money. so £17 for 3 balls! When I was at the South Bank I saw there was a new terrace restaurant - shame it isn't better! The NT really struggles to get their catering right. I end up going some place like Honest Burger (not the daintiest of pre-theatre meals) beforehand.

I saw this last year and this year,
I can't say that it is a better show this time around. 3 stars
To be honest, I was so caught off guard that half of it has been gutted/changed, that I spent most of the performance thinking 'is that a new song/scene or do I just have bad memory'
Victoria was the standout, obviously
I missed the tenderness and fragility of Rosalie Craig's fairy this time around...
Rosalie and Victoria would be a theatre match made in Heaven

Was at the press night tonight and was just…bored. I went back and read my thoughts on page 2 here from almost one year ago to the day and while this is still an awful show, the “WTF” factor is gone and it’s just, again, boring. There are some positives, although they don’t add up to anything that can make the show itself any good. Lisa Lambe has a fantastic voice and I loved every second of hearing her sing. The 3 floating faeries they added were a very nice touch and looked beautiful and a few of the newer (?) songs were very nice. That’s about it. The rest of it is just not at all good and I can’t believe they spent time and money putting this on again. Hopefully they’ll do it every Christmas from now on so I can save some money this time of year.

Curious about this; is Hex (this year, at least) primarily or only a show for adults, for children, or families, and is it a Christmas show, in a non-traditional (non-panto) way?

It’s not for children. Not that they can’t watch it but besides some pretty colors, there’s nothing there for them. I can’t imagine how bored a child would be watching this. And it’s not a Christmas show in any way, at all.

Kind of both, kind of neither. It has some humour aimed at adults and some clearly aimed at kids. It was a bit confusing who it was aimed at but I'm an adult who enjoyed it and there were a couple of school (maybe drama?) groups in (10-16ish) who seemed to really enjoy it! I guess it's a family show, but doesn't fit the normal family show type. Not a Christmas show though apart from it being a musical which doesn't take itself too seriously on around Christmas.

I wondered myself who it is aimed at but on the night I went there was a large group of school children who seemed to really enjoy it and a couple of quite small children a few rows in front of me who else seemed to like it. Personally not something I would take a child to.

4 stars in the Telegraph. Have to say that reading it has made me more intrigued to see it!

Lisa Lambe is probably the best excuse to see this and its a pretty damn good excuse.

I had never heard of her before last night and I spent a very long time afterwards looking her up and listening to her music - her voice is stunning. I truly hope she does a better musical after this one.

Did anyone see the show on Friday?
Someone on twitter tweeted to Victoria that 'Even with the technical hitch which seemed to make it funnier, how you kept a straight face when you came back on stage I’ll never know.' and now I'm curious as to what happened

Someone on twitter tweeted to Victoria that 'Even with the technical hitch which seemed to make it funnier, how you kept a straight face when you came back on stage I’ll never know.' and now I'm curious as to what happened I was there on Friday. Act 2 and stage manager came on to say there was a problem with the revolve and asked the cast to leave the stage. It was at a very "tense" point regarding baby eating. Victoria was holding a baby and they all walked off the stage and she left the baby sitting on a bench. She did say something to the baby as she left, I can't remember what it was but it was quite funny. So empty stage with this odd looking baby just sitting there and a spotlight shining on it. It was quite surreal and amusing.

4* from the Guardian, looks like it wasn’t the disaster we all thought it might be. As someone who hasn't seen the show yet, I am very much intrigued. I will probably be giving it a try this time around.

I guess that means it’s not a flop so far! (Manor is still their big flop in recent years) Hopefully they’ll finally push through with the NT Live broadcast.

Well, I think overall, they'll be happy with the four-star reviews from the Guardian and the Telegraph. I was one of those who saw this first time around and actually liked it. So much so that I booked a return visit in January! I'll be intrigued to see what changes have been made. My favourite songs were Sixteen (sung by Rose), One of These Days (sung by the rival princes), I Know What I Am (sung by the ogress mother) and the (to my ears) slightly Hamilton-ish Prince Bert, so I hope they are all still present and correct!

This is how the Guardian sums it up...
'A fabulous musical then, just a shame about the music.'
Then then give it 4 stars..
If a musical has bad music, it is a bad musical.
End of.

That was exactly my thought when I saw it last year. Decided to give it a miss this time around.
And the show is papered nearly every day. Not sure the reviews are going to change that. For me this is one of those shows that has 'flop' written all over it.

Today's reviews have given me even less alignment with the critics.
Generally I book shows in advance based on my initial feelings and this will now carry on even more.
