I went on Saturday night. I didn't think the play sounded that interesting, and I wasn't desperate to see the leads, but given the buzz around it I didn't want to miss out and was quite excited to go and see what it was like.
It was really just okay in my view. It is obviously quite dated, but I just found parts of it quite boring. I was plainly in the minority as the audience generally seemed to love it and there was a rapturous standing ovation at the end. I enjoyed the second half more than the first, and SJP and MB were both good, but it was nothing memorable. Three stars.

Can we have a poll for this one please?
It is four stars for me. I haven't seen a production of Macbeth for so so long (as sadly missed Tenant recently) so I have little to compare to, it might be 20 years since I last saw it in fact. I really liked it overall. Unfortunately Indira Varma was off - the poor understudy (Rebecca Scruggs) hearing an audible groan from the audience when it was announced - but I thought she was very good.
It felt like a Punchdrunk show in the foyer and walking through the initial part of the set, I thought the rubble and car etc were powerful, albeit after that the set itself was fairly sparse and there wasn't really an immersive element to it. The lighting and sound were excellent and added to the atmosphere (and the setting of war). I really liked Ralph Fiennes; it is the first time I have seen him on stage and he was impressive and I understood the lines.
I would put it in the good category and whilst I really enjoyed it at the time, I can't say that in years to come it will be a stand out show that I remember.

On the fence about this one. I went on Friday night so it sounds like the show was quite different to when it started. There were parts I really enjoyed, and others that dragged a bit. I thought Sheridan Smith was working really hard and is very compelling to watch; very good acting and nice singing (save for a few high notes). Nicola Hughes stole the show for me - seeing her credits she has been in lots of things but somehow I have never seen her in anything! She was riveting to watch in the final song of Act 1. All of the cast were great to be fair, though Amy Lennox was woefully underused (as was Rebecca Thornill but she is understudy to Smith so that makes more sense) as to why she is in such a tiny role).
I am really torn about the use of the video/screen. In some parts it worked well, but I thought it was overused. We had excellent stalls seats but at times I wondered why we bothered (given the price) as so much is sung to the camera with backs or sides to the audience so you needed to watch the screen rather than the actors on stage which you can do from much cheaper seats. Same issue someone else had with the curtain, no issue with it for some time but did it really need to remain closed for so long obscuring the view.
It certainly seemed a mixed response from the audience. A few people near us left in the interval and I heard the usher say to a couple that left that the show isn't for everyone and people have left in the interval at other shows. I certainly would stick it out until the end if anyone is on the fence about staying for Act 2.
Overall, I don't think I would rush back to see it, but if a cast recording is released I would listen to it again as some of the songs were very nice. It sits at three stars for me at the moment, I am glad I went, good performances, but a little disappointed overall compared to what I was hoping for!

I thought this was going to be easy booking as no queue at all. But after I paid, nothing happened and it just took me to the theatre homepage. No confirmation email received, no booking number, and nothing shown on my Delfont Mackintosh account. Then just checked my account and the money has gone out. Doh! I had the same, it took about 40 minutes to get the email through and for them to show in my DMT account. Ahh. I spoke to DM on the instant chat and they sorted it now

Waited 40 mins and then granted access and there's an error message :/
I got that. Close the window and click the email link again. You don't lose your place and you go straight through.
Thanks for this. I tried this and it worked 😁

This didn't get any traction! Has anyone seen it before? I recognised the name but only know what I've read on Wiki! On the other hand, it is one of the most heartfelt and exciting things I've ever seen, to each their own. Listen to Arlington Hill. Great, thanks!

This is definitely going on my list to look out for. Was the last one the actor/musician one with Jodie Prenger? Totally forgot about that. I saw it at the Watermoll

Ok, got email a few mins later and have booked! Same. Nice to see a show with such decent discounts for previews which seems rare now. £65 top price seat for previews vs £110 after!

It was an instantly forgettable show and I am scratching my head wondering why The Young Vic is producing it. Thanks. Ah interesting. I will see what the music is like before I book

The queue suddenly went down quickly and I was pleasantly surprised that a number of dates I tried had decent availability in all areas so keep trying all

I was trying to work out the maths. I presume considering the venue capacity and length of the run (depending if 8 shows a week or not), there are circa 60,000 seats or so available for the whole run. But I guess the queue numbers aren't too accurate as presumably many people have lots of tabs/devices open so may distort it. So in conclusion, we can hopefully get seats lol But also some people in the queue will buy 2 or more tickets… Yes, quite. That is why initially when I saw the queue I wondered if it was even worth it lol. I am being optimistic and hoping!!

I think the Romeo and Juliet rush for tickets today has overshadowed this, I think tickets go on sale at 10am today with the show name also being announced

I don’t know…turning the theatre into a circus could work… True. I saw it at the Menier and not that keen on seeing it again. Probably will get bums on seats though and I do always like to see what they do in such a small space!

I think I prefer the old name. At least you kinda knew what it was going to be about. I didn't think that was the name of the show. I think it said the show name will be confirmed on 13th Feb

I thought Totoro was expensive, but the seat I paid £107 for recently is now £175 for Kiss Me Kate. OUCH
