Sorry if this has all ready been discussed but does anyone know where the TodayTix seats are and if they are any good. Also if someone who is a mere 5 foot high can see from one of the dayseats. Any help much appreciated. A lot of the todaytix recently seem to have been the back on the stalls, which is a great view (depending on who is in front of you!) but there have been a variety of seats offered all over the theatre. As for the dayseats, I’m 5ft 2 and I wouldn’t recommend them for someone seeing the show for the first time. The stage is very high, overall there probably isn’t a LOT that you actually miss, but when they’re sitting on the chairs you can only really see the their heads and a lot of the overall effect of the staging etc is lost. Booster seats are available for £1.

I saw this show on Broadway and there was no rabbi or holocaust survivor portrayed. Has this changed in the West End version? There was no one based on this man in the Broadway production, but he has a fascinating story so Id love it if it is included There is - both on Broadway and in the West End. It’s not a huge part of the storyline but it’s definitely included. You can hear it in almost its entirety in “Prayer” on the cast recording.

Isn't "take the plunge" a tad insensitive considering the subject matter of the show? I get your point, but it’s a lyric in the show? All about context I guess! I’m gutted to not be there tonight. Seen the show on Broadway and in Dublin, so high hopes it’s just as successful here!

I think it's fair play to have a Florence and Freddy as non MT performers, but I think they "owe" it to the industry to hire musical theatre performers for Anatoly, and definitely Svetlana. Rebecca Trehearn could be a fab Svetlana. That voice! Indeed. However, I'd actually really love to see Rebecca as Florence.

They couldn't come up with another title? The Amber Riley, Cassidy Jensen and Beverley Knight group is also called Leading Ladies. It's like Behind the Barricade, Behind the Mask, Do You Hear the People Sing? and The Magic of Musicals..the go to titles for any concert with songs from musicals. Strictly speaking it’s called Musicals in Concert: Leading Ladies, according to the Barbican website. Still not terribly original, but there is a slight difference... Also this has been on sale for a long time under this name.... I booked a ticket back in June and I believe it went on sale a couple of months before that. (For Birmingham anyway, I'm not sure on the other venues) I'm looking forward to this, having been to the different variants of these style concerts at Christmas for the past few years. All 4 of these ladies are incredible vocalists!

Cant understand why Alex Young isn't getting more praise. Its a big stage and it was fine during the music but dragged when she wasn't on stage. Ditto! Alex Young is definitely the highlight of this production! She has a wonderful stage presence and such a beautiful voice! I enjoyed the humour she brought to Carrie, very well delivered. Her rendition of Mister Snow was beautifully sung. Also, Gavin Spokes and Derek Hagen are excellent. The ensemble are also fantastic - in particular the opening and the ballet in act 2. I have to say with the exception of one or two scenes, Katherine Jenkins definitely exceeded my expectations. Alfie Boe - his voice is great, though not suited to the role or score in my opinion, but his acting was... well... woeful. I think Nicholas Lyndhurst is great in his role - though considering his limited stage time it seems rather unfair to me that his curtain call spot is the one before Alfie Boe and Katherine Jenkins? I certainly enjoyed hearing the score played by a large orchestra!

Someone should have written in to ask them! I did... sadly though it obviously wasn't answered! Saw this last night and enjoyed it although it felt a bit small scale in terms of cast numbers. "Old Man River" was sung by Joe and five other guys with a couple of ladies dropping in to add their voices. It was underpowered and, hence, not the showstopper it should be. On the up side, we had the understudy Joe, Tosh Wanogho-Maud, who possesses a rich bass-baritone voice and who nailed the song's low notes, something, I gather, that the regular Joe has a problem with. Gina Beck was the star of the show and quite perfect in every way and I also liked Chris Peluso's Ravenal. His voice and hers were a great blend and I thought he handled his underwritten role extremely well. Btw, I loved the way the ending was staged, that problematic reunion scene. Director Daniel Evans got it exactly right. Rebecca Trehearn was out and her understudy was not able to infuse "Bill" with the required magic, which was disappointing, but the rest of the main cast were certainly impressive. I loved Sandra Marvin's Queenie and Malcolm Sinclair's Captain Andy - talk about making the most of your part! Act Two is always going to be a problem but Evans's solutions seemed appropriate. The time compression after the Trocadero scene was inventively done although one wished he had had more resources at his disposal. In the last Broadway incarnation of this show, the Hal Prince production, the passing years were indicated via a massive dance number, the music and the dance steps changing with the times from the sedate cakewalk to the hot jazz of the twenties. But every staging of Showboat is going to be different in this section of the show. This is a fine production of a great, if somewhat troublesome, musical. Well done to all concerned. I kind of have to agree with you about Old Man River - with Tosh on as Joe the ensemble was one short as another member is still out injured. Previously the impact at the end of Old Man River with a full ensemble has been very powerful with Tosh adding some strong vocals which I really missed when he was on as Joe (As Joe his Old Man River was amazing to watch and listen to... a very emotional performance from him!)

I saw this again last night (3rd time - once in Sheff and once in London). Still adore it but agree about the sound. I found it difficult to hear some of the words during ensemble songs and Captain Andy was virtually impossible to make out. I didn't buy a programme this time but I am sure the ensemble was smaller than normal? Unless they have simply left the show. I only saw it in April though. Anyway, I still loved it. Joe sounded a little tired to me but everyone else was wonderful. I much prefer Chris to Michael Xavier (runs and hides) and Rebecca Trehearn is the best thing in it for me. 'Bill' is the best part of the show. Love it. Determined to go and see it again before it ends! The ensemble was smaller, 2 of the guys were out ill/injured and the only swing who could cover those roles was also out ill. 2 of the ensemble were basically doing their own track and another - kudos to them as I don't think first time watchers would even notice! Though it's a shame that Old Man River does lose its impact slightly compared to a full ensemble - nevertheless still amazing!

It is normal - they've been getting scheduled shows for years. Some choose to spread the word, some don't. Even for the 2nd cover? I remember Jeniffer Tierney was the first 2nd cover they had and she didn't go on - was there somebody else or was Jackie Hughes next? As previously said, she had a scheduled show when she was 2nd cover. As far as I'm aware, the 1st covers always have at least 1 contracted show, but don't think was originally the case for the 2nd covers. I think Jennifer Tierney was the first second cover? and actually the only one to not get a show sadly. However the others got shows due to holiday and illness, injury etc! Katie Rowley-Jones is one I'm not sure of - I know she got a couple of shows because of holiday and injury but I'm not sure if she then also got a scheduled show?

Laura Emmitt has announced she has a scheduled Elphaba show on the 24th March. Is it usual for 2nd U/s to get scheduled shows? Let's hope it's to see about the potential for a lead or s/b job for either tour or London and the execs will be in! As far as I know Jackie Hughes was the first 2nd u/s to get a scheduled show and of course she went on to be standby on the tour so maybe a possibility?

Also, I assume Danny Collins - who was excellent as Frank - will not be joining the company in London as he will be in Jekyll & Hyde at the Old Vic? Danny Collins should be staying in Show Boat, I asked him after a recent performance of Matthew Bourne's Sleeping Beauty because I thought he was a great Frank and was curious. He said he's not going to do matinees while he rehearses Jekyll & Hyde then he'll be back in Show Boat afterwards. Oh, this is excellent news! I did wonder if he would join Show Boat afterwards because J&H was such a short run, but this is even better!

All booked up to see this on the 18th June. Have adored the songs from this for years so am very excited. Am sitting on the side which will be a new experience. Plus in the stalls. Have only sat in the stalls for Jersey Boys in 2012( Parents got a special offer out of a magazine), every other show in the dress circle but I prefer being closer to the stage and as I am paying I am sitting where I want to sit. I wonder when the new Gaylord will be announced? And does anyone have a song list? The one on the Goodspeed opera house is wrong because Hey Feller was included in Sheffield. Here is a list of the songs from Sheffield: I loved the show in Sheffield and have booked to see it again in London - will be interested to see the new Gaylord and if any changes have been made! Also, I assume Danny Collins - who was excellent as Frank - will not be joining the company in London as he will be in Jekyll & Hyde at the Old Vic?
