I saw the original and really enjoyed it, took a group back 2 weeks later and they all enjoyed it. BUT this was very much a mess, too long in the build up with the audience and strong connections between Bertie and Jeeves. I cant remember the original being so long ago but to me this didn't seem the same show. Perhaps you need a live audience laughing to get it going?? Still some good songs with Half a Moment being the best and ALW saying in the trailer it was his favourite song.

HMV are a pain you either have to go to a shop - if you can find one near you. They have just opened the biggest shop HMV ever had buy in Manchester but they do not do mail order anymore. So me in Cornwall cant get to their Truro shop or the Plymouth shop without trying to get friends get for me. They are now owned by an American company.

The original was the best, a great fun show with some really good songs. But actor/musicians no way. Why does CRH always do that? Wonder why he hasn't suggested doing Annie with the kids playing the music?

Unless I missed it, I see now it is ending, they are advising adult themes and not suitable for under 12!

Disney have just said they are looking at a "new updated" version of Aida only recently.

My most favourite musical to come along for a long time - Disney should have the guts to put that version on. It would be ideal for ENO. Perhaps we should send lots of emails to Grade/linnet?? The La Jolla version wasn't shown as a Disney was it? It was a Stephen Schwartz musical and he is rewriting it for a new stage version, but that choir really made it something else! Also Titanic is another great choice.

I took a two groups to Zeigfeld. I have a programme but its with all the others and would have to find it. I seem to remember that an American was the lead first - possibly Len Cariou? But to help save the show Topol was brought in to boost sales as the second Zeigfeld. It was a very BIG show with I presume, naked ostriches around the world giving up tons of feathers!!

After over 42+ years of bringing groups up to the West End for shows, I have had enough. Not only for us coming from darkest Cornwall is the ridiculous price now of mainly musicals but the problems with parking a coach, dropping some of our disabled people near a theatre. We have disabled blue badges on the windscreen but stop and 3 wardens appear from behind a lamppost! Westminster and Camden don't not take blue badges either so we are told by wardens. Coming from Cornwall and with a lot still working we cannot really do weekdays for shows, so we are stuck with Saturday matinees and a hotel. There are a lot of shows they would like to see but the prices are getting that to work out a cost for show/hotel/coach is getting stupid. They certainly would not want to pay £100+ for any ticket, £80/£85 is good for us but not in the back rows of theatres. I have good seats for CFA and Waitress at a good price but Poppins will be the last of 3 coach trips in London.
I did try a small group by train on a Saturday but even that with tickets (they want good seats) and train tickets (group3 now some sort of a saver) came to around £160 each. Slightly more and they can get half board at a hotel outside London. We cannot do day tickets etc, every thing needs to be in place before we arrive.
What will happen now is that is we will wait for the shows to tour and we will go to either Bristol or Cardiff where you are not a commodity but a person and they are far more willing to give you time to sort the group out at reasonable rates.

Wouldn't it be very nice IF we could have a DVD of the original production? After all we have had them of the 10 & 25 Les Mis, Phantom and Miss Saigon. If it will not come back then a reminder of a great show?

If its as the UK tour, Dolly appears on film at the beginning and starts the song 9 to 5. WMC is putting their dates for the tour on sale on the 30/01/19. It runs from 28/10 to 02/11 2019.

There was a film version with Peter O'Toole as the Don Q and Sophia Loren as Aldonza. The only time I have seen the "show" in the UK.

Having seen the NT's version of Carousel, which I think is one of the best I have seen. I wish they could release it on DVD! I also rate The King & I very highly - first show I saw on Broadway with Brynner. I also like Oklahoma and Cinderella. R&H's Cinderella was the very first panto put on in the Theatre Royal Plymouth when they opened. Lots of moans "its a musical not a panto" just because R&H was before the title but still filled it with the usual panto stuff!
