I think it's an orchestra of 20, sounds amazing. I think either Burton sang Arthur lower than written originally or Ramin is having to take certain notes up an octave, the role sits a bit low for him perhaps, but you wouldn't notice. I've not seen Bradley before, lovely voice. They are basically having a narrator summarise the dialogue and just doing the score which is why it's able to speed through.

Although big queues to get in, big queues for programmes and lots of empty seats still at 5.58! Nice atmosphere though.

Perhaps a bit late but may calm some nerves: Act 1 6pm Interval 6:50pm Act 2 7:10pm Show ends 8pm
I'm guessing they will cut some dancing? I guess no need for time for scenery changes too.

I'm also doing a Frozen/Camelot double! I agree re: Daniella too, her Let it Go was genuinely thrilling and I can't imagine Sam being much better so I'm ok having missed her. I enjoyed this a lot overall, and having braced myself for the kind of behaviour that realistically has to be expected from the age group this is aimed at, it wasn't as bad as I expected.
I liked the film but this seems tighter, and I'm struggling to see what the fuss about Hygge was unless it's been watered down since. I haven't looked at a cast list, but they were pretty uniformly very strong indeed, lovely voices.
Disappointing that the theatre say mask wearing is mandatory on big signs weaved sold and did an announcement before to say so and maybe 1 in 100 were bothering.

God what I wouldnt have given to see Rosalie in this! Honestly still would, get her and Hadley in it! I'm so excited for this, one of my favourite shows in one of my favourite venues. I liked the Union production done a couple years ago. I'm excited to see its being done in traverse, I hope its a good production! I went to see it then just to hear her sing it. I really loved it, Izzy was great too. I think she'd been in Lord of the Rings before this so it was lovely to hear her sing up close in such a small theatre. I really like this show so pleased to see it return.

Just had an email from Curve in Leicester, week 1 going ahead but week 2 cancelled. No real explanation as to why. It hasn't been selling amazingly well so I'm wondering if that's why?

Can someone clarify the mask situation for me. ATG have messaged to say wear masks on way in but free to take off when seated, however this isn’t what the article says and I can’t find anything on the musicals website to clarify what has been said elsewhere. So do I have to wear my mask throughout the performance or not, asking as I wouldn’t be able to see the show if I did due to foggy glasses!! Cheers all I'd buy a FPP3 mask (I get them without but also available with a vent) from eBay. 3M make them. Basically, FPP3 seals your mouth far better so you don't get breath escaping and steaming up your glasses. Most masks protect others from you rather than the other way around, but these are much thicker and will actually stop you breathing in more of the air that can give you Covid, which is a nice bonus.

Samantha has posted on Instagram that she's fighting off a chest infection this week, which may explain why some thought she sounded tired recently. Perhaps a silly question, but in situations like these who decides when she should perform/not? Is it up to the performer, or do they need a doctor's note, or does a resident director of company manager decide? I would imagine her understudy will also be fantastic, and I would have thought better the understudy than a sub-par lead who may need time to recover and get more ill if they continue - how does it work?

In Love Story at the Duchess in the cooking pasta scene, Emma Williams or Michael Xavier (I forget which) managed to knock the entire pan of pasta (which they actually used to cook on stage in the song) off the hob onto the stage floor. Both of them just looked at each other and had no idea what to do...
I forget the opera, but Natalie Dessay knocked an ink pot off the desk onto the giant white rug, where it slowly spread for the rest of the act. You do wonder why the ink pot needed actually ink.
I also saw Priscilla (the bus) break down once, but I think that was a reasonably common thing to happen.

If ever a role screamed Emma Williams it's this one. She can move but I don't think she's a trained dancer so I wonder if that's why? Zizi, although I agree with other posters that she doesn't sing in a way that's to my taste, can dance like few others.

Sad to see her perpetuating dangerous falsehoods around fertility. The greatest risk to any future baby is if Laura gets Covid and the baby's mother becomes seriously ill. Still, it's a difficult situation as in the UK people can choose to get the vaccine or not, and I know a couple of people at work who seem to get their information from TikTok mainly who aren't, and despite working in a job where we see vulnerable people daily, we can't force them to get the jab, and unlike Laura has been, we can't sack them.
I wonder more about her future career. She's always trod a difficult line, being a conservative Christian in the New York theatre scene. I'm curious to see if the rest of her views will come under more scrutiny now and if other questions she may have dodged so far get asked explicitly. Will be interesting to see how it pans out. It's a really sad situation, as she is such a wonderful performer and one of the voices of this generation, but I for one don't want to see her get any more influence or prominence if she's going to spout such dangerous nonsense.

Lloyd-Webber's voting record in the Lord's was shameful, so I'm not too upset at how Osnes votes as a random US citizen.
I would love to see this but London on a Tuesday night isn't do-able. I'm hoping/dreaming they may be filming it as it seems quite an expense for them to put it on only for one night. Laura's show about roles she never played that they filmed and showed in lockdown was one of my lockdown highlights. As was Bandstand now I think of it, also with Osnes. And I entirely echo everything everyone's saying about Jeremy Jordan. Maybe we can steal his passport when he's over here and force him to never leave?

That’s all very well but no one should be having a go at the cast or creatives. They want the show to go ahead as much as anyone. I’m afraid that anyone booking theatre tickets, trains and hotels at the moment are doing so with the risk of losing money if a show is cancelled. You’d have to be pretty dim to think the show will 100% go ahead. I think, at least until the rules change in mid August, theatre is in real trouble, especially productions with a large cast/crew. The covid rate is about 1 in 95, and higher in London and is going to rise significantly over the coming days/weeks. One person testing positive basically then shuts down your production for days with only a few hours to call it off as many others will have to then self isolate. This will likely happen again and again. I suspect this reality is sinking in for everyone, including ALW. It is going to surely make almost any production unworkable. And now we are hearing indications from ministers that restrictions will be put in place again in September and I'd guess that will include in theatres. A show like Cinderella will likely take ages to recoup and that certainly won't be by September. I take ALW's press release as part realisation that this is all a huge nightmare, and part lobbying government for different restrictions for theatre to make it viable. Either way, awful for everyone who loves or works in theatre and I can understand all the upset.

So looking forward to the live stream.. We're really lucky to have such voices in it. How do we start a campaign for a cast recording?

Going back to Rebecca Caine, she spoke about this in some detail a few years ago when she did an interview/mini concert night at Charing Cross/New Players theatre. This was before MeToo was a movement, and it was really sad to hear about. She spoke about her treatment from a few fairly nasty men.
The Canadian recording of Phantom with her in remains my favourite. Such a voice.

So this is weird rather than inappropriate and was in Am Dram (and I'm sure I've seen something like it in an actual comedy), but the main actor kept leaving long, dramatic pauses. And the prompt, helpfully, kept prompting him, thinking he'd forgotten his lines... The first time he just glowered at the prompt, the second time he snapped at them, and the final time he stormed off stage, never to be seen again... It was such an awkward pause... I also saw an actor walk off a stage once by mistake, quite a crashing sound followed.

I confess I'm rather surprised that a couple of people want to see Lord of the Rings. Presumably for the fairly spectacular production rather than the not very good piece itself. You're partially right there. For me it's both the production value and certain musical numbers. I loved LOTR. I never liked the book or films much, but it worked for me, and I loved the music too. I rarely see things more than once but went 4 times. It would be one of the things I'd like to go back in time and see again. As for the other, that's a hard call. Seeing Julie Andrews in My Fair Lady on Broadway on the opening night is definitely a possibility, although I would have loved to have seen Rebecca Caine in Phantom.

That’s amazing news I knew they’d have to bring some the broadway set over with it after it closed over there. Question I’m in the upper circle row E what is the view like from there if anyone has ever sat up in the gods thank you and sorry for my continuous questions 9 It's ok if no-one tall is in front of you. You can check the view at seatplan or on theatre monkey too. I've sat there a few times and it's been fine. Hope you enjoy the show, when the time comes!

I just watched the UK premiere of the Broadway production of Bandstand on stream.theatre. I think it's my favourite thing I've seen since lockdown of all the things that have been shown online. Having to watch it at 7.30pm kind of made me feel a bit like I was back in the theatre, and seeing a big show with great singing and dancing was so nice. Laura Osnes, as usual, just sang beautifully. It's a really nice show, it's showing 3 more times (tomorrow, Sunday and Wednesday) so catch it while you can. Highly recommended and I doubt we'll ever get a WE production given it didn't play long in the states.

Hi Darqen and welcome to the board! Do you remember where this was performed (in London, or at a regional theatre or in a school?) and was it a professional production or AmDram? And was it a musical or a play? I'm struggling to think of anything that matches your description so far!

And given Six has cancelled their drive in, that would also work really well. Although maybe it would have to be an acoustic version...

I also really enjoyed this, I'm surprised there's not been more of a reaction given its one of the few new things we've been able to watch for months! I thought the way they recorded it and sang 'live' (rather than pre recording the vocals then being filmed lipsynching) and the very raw way it was filmed made it seem less like a film and more like 'theatre', along with the streams being at a set time. I'm not sure if I'm explaining what I mean very well, but the joy of seeing sort-of live singing from theatre folk after all this time was lovely and I felt a bit emotional. My attention waned a bit in some songs, but Cedric Neal I've never seen before and he sang amazingly. If he had an album I'd buy it. The rest were in great voice too.
I think there are more productions that could work this way, Assassins springs to mind, also Tomorrow Morning or perhaps Tell Me On A Sunday or Ordinary Days.

Ah thats it, I knew it was someone well known in theatre! Thanks When she did the evening at the Charing Cross theatre a while back and was asked about it, she said Daniel Evans cast her assuming she could speak French because she's Canadian... When she can't at all. If anyone's looking for a new lockdown listen, her Leading Ladies album is good fun.

I saw this last night too and would largely agree. My overall impression was that it's a good production of an average show which makes for an enjoyable night out, but not one I might think back on too often.
The main problem for me was the plot, as it hurtles through a lot of years, without dwelling much in any of them. At least 3 of the major events took place incredibly quickly and for scant reason and were therefore totally unbelievable, and the plot isn't massively interesting or involving. It ran a fair while on Broadway, so perhaps it's just dated and chimed better back in the day.
However, it's a nice production with generally very good turns. There was some lovely choreography and dancing, and the songs were performed well with some memorable numbers and some very funny one-liners. Tracie Bennett plays the part like she seems to play every part, but it really suited Mame, fortunately. The set and costumes were good, especially compared to what some other touring shows give us.
So worth seeing if you can get there and get a reasonable ticket, but I'd not worry too much if you miss it.
