Also, did Layton say Titanic was on its Maiden tour?

I’ve not seen the show, but I thought the one being so harsh about the lead actress was too much.

Oh right. They changed her song previously. As long as they haven’t changed Hollywood, I’ll be OK. Is there any of the dreaded audience participation? Hollywood is the same, although the staging is dire. Someone literally just holding out a tiny stuffed Ewok toy from the wings for 'there goes an Ewok' and then sticking out one hand in a Freddy Krueger glove for 'talking to Freddy Krueger from Nightmare on Elm Street'. I don't remember it being that noncommittal before... If you're front row or central aisle a couple of characters might address a couple of comments to you, but they don't expect you to say anything back. Janey and Feris also hand out superhero masks at one point and you're supposed to put them on and then a view of the audience is projected onto the back of the stage. But nothing beyond that. I see there’s a central aisle, but is there an aisle on the ‘outer edges?’

Are all the songs the same? Yes for the most part, although I'm not totally sure that the act 2 opening number wasn't new? It wasn't the best sound quality so it may just have felt new because it sounded different, but I don't remember SHL getting that much to do before. Oh right. They changed her song previously. As long as they haven’t changed Hollywood, I’ll be OK. Is there any of the dreaded audience participation?

Is the Australian one set in the same Scottish castle? Tip: do not search Traitors Australia on YouTube unless you want massive spoilers. It’s set in Australia which means the tasks are all different (although some are mighty similar). It’s set in a hotel which is a bit creepy but not as special as the Castle. That was the only thing that wasn’t as good. Claudia and the Australian presenter were equally good I though.

I really hope they don’t change the music. Costumes/Set etc. I don’t mind but I love so many songs.

Mel Geidroyc no longer appearing: Glad I didn’t book tickets now. Mel is my fave person so, more than anything, I hope she and her family are OK.

Have to say that I really enjoyed it. Some genuinely funny moments that made me laugh out loud. I actually thought it was a much funnier film than the first though the first is still the better movie. The Sanderson sisters were great and it had felt like nothing had changed in the 30 years since they last played those roles. And I thought the rest of the supporting cast did a solid job. Unfortunately I completely disagree about the comedy. It was so cringeworthy. The kind of cheap self-aware comedy that is commonplace nowadays (especially from the sidekick). It’s why this one won’t become a classic. Also the one they were trying to kill was so annoying I was kind of on their side. Haha.

My thoughts from four weeks ago:
Of course, I’m biased to this musical.
I don’t agree that Beverley sings it better. Cynthia is the best singer this show will probably ever have.
Some fun changes, like with Eddie’s number.
No one will ever convince me ‘It’s Good To Be A Nun’ is the better song.
There were some unspoken moments that got cut, sadly.
I have never understood about acoustics until I saw this show. It felt very quiet.
This is the show that I have seen most, ever in my life. I know I sound down. I will love it forever, but it wasn’t the best version of it.
7/10

Sorry if this has already been answered but does anyone know who was playing Sister Mary Patrick in the final show on Sunday? The cast board said Keala Settle but she definitely wasn’t on! I believe it was Caroline Bateson. I don’t know why Keala wasn’t on for the evening as she definitely did the matinee Remember, the evening date wasn’t originally on the schedule.

She was great as Mother Superior in Sister Act. Didn’t get long enough in the role.

Really sad. I love her voice. Of course, all the hits, but Suspended in Time is beautiful.
Weightless from ‘A Few Best Men’ is great too. A fun film she’s in as well.

Saw it tonight... Before I say anything further, I just want to say that I really loved the original production and saw it a couple of times. I genuinely think that it's a great show, with great songs. However, this production is a masterclass of why not to stunt cast for the sake of it. Saunders was horrific. Genuinely shockingly bad. She made the same "you're pitchy" comment to avoid the big note going into the final song. Clive Rowe also wasn't great and seemed to struggle; both him and Saunders tended to talk large portions of their solos, rather than sing it (which, in Saunders' case was a blessing.) I am also sick of this trend of changing parts of a show for the sake of it. Slight lyric changes throughout, some songs reworked a fair bit to remove lyrics, a new Mother Superior song (which could have worked, if another actor was playing the role... - I think this might have been taken from the Broadway version, as it replaced 'Here Within These Walls (Reprise)?). "How I Got the Calling" has been removed entirely and replaced with the broadway replacement song, which isn't anywhere near as good and actually damages the story. For example, it removes a lot of the context of Sister Mary Roberts having not been "called". The problem with this is that when she decides she wants to leave with Delores in Act 2, it makes literally no sense (in fact, someone near me shouted "WHAT?" when she said it - it literally came out of no where, with no context or anything. It made no sense in the slightest. She then goes into her solo, which again, without the previous information, seems really odd and jarring.) I also wasn't sure why they added a new nun: Sister Mary Theresa. Which again, adds nothing: it actually took away as it took the entire character of Sister Mary Lazarus? It's a really odd decision. The decision to remove Mother Superior's lines when they find out the Pope is coming also makes her decision to defend Delores seems really odd because there is no build up. I gather most of these changes are from the broadway version? And yes, as mentioned, the staff there are awful. As you enter, they are literally screaming at people, telling them to go to all doors. We weren't allowed to take a bottle of water in. Sound was also pretty bad in some places. But the audience were awful? People getting up to the toilet throughout, etc. Really treating it like a concert. Such a shame that the show has ended up in this position. Yes, ‘It’s Good To Be A Nun’ doesn’t tell Mary Robert’s story well at all. ‘Haven’t Got A Prayer’ is OK. I don’t mind either. Depends who’s singing them I guess. I’ve seen Sheila Hancock, Verity Quade, Whoopi Goldberg, Sally Dexter, Victoria Clark and Denise Black as Mother Superior in English-language productions; some have the singing nailed, with less stage presence, some forget lyrics out of tune but have the audience in the palms of their hands. I guess it’s all subjective. I actually didn’t like the majority of the changes for Broadway. I would love for them to give someone (me) a chance to meld the two together with a few other changes. I love the music so much. I’m tempted to go more than my one ticket bought so far.

Voting Remain should be a big plus but she doesn’t actually seem to stick to anything for long; just whatever can bring her more attention.
