I find it amusing JSO always target things like the Proms, Chelsea Flower Show, Wimbledon etc I think if they disrupted the Rugby World Cup in France or a football match, it would turn ugly. Been a good few protests at football. Tie themselves to goalposts is the protest means

Oh sure, but if we don't acknowledge the faults of the place we live, how can we hope to improve it? For example, there is a strong drinking culture in the UK, which can, at times, turn into anti-social drunken behaviour. That behaviour then starts to appear in theatres, the very thing we're here to discuss. Exactly. There is no doubt in my mind that we have some of the worst cross over between alcohol binges and theatre audiences. It's not a reason in itself to emigrate. Always tickled me the 'go and live somewhere else' line

They can go with 14 or 15 one I agree maximum of one more to come, Kelvin was drafted in at short notice when Jamie got injured but I cannot recall there being other reserve/standby contrestants ever mentioned unless they then use them the next year if they are still available. Kelvin had been a soap regular for 20 years so was probably more well known than alot of other contestants so only to have him as a reserve would have been strange. Possibly the reserves are only on standby for first few weeks and then if not needed just stop doing the training? Nigel Harman has long been rumoured so no great surprise and he is a well known name in BBC shows. I did suggest Annabel Croft as a possible long shot when Wimbledon was on as her husband had only passed away a few months earlier and she'd be a good "redemption" story. But I thought maybe this year was too soon so to see her announced is a nice surprise. She is still in great physical shape and has always been very elegant so I can see her being good at the ballroom element and might be a dark horse to go far deeper in the run than you'd expect from a lady in her mid/late 50's. Wow, some people just know

I wanted the gardeners world piece to focus a little more on their aeonium collection. But i guess that is just tailoring the piece for me really. I've got one leggy aeonium and a herd of agaves so it was wonderful to see so many flourishing - I'm in the rainy North West not frost-free Cornwall so have to lug them all in the house in the winter, which is getting difficult now they're big! Yep mine have to come inside in the winter. Only one agave and a miniature one at that. Quite a few succulent varieties but aeonium and echevaria are my favourite. Started my collection last year and I am getting on for fifty plants now. Currently sat in the garden waiting for the postman to bring the latest selections. Which are coming from surreal succulents just around the corner from the Minack

Minack (?) theatre garden on gardener's world right now A beautiful garden and a unique setting for a theatre. I wanted the gardeners world piece to focus a little more on their aeonium collection. But i guess that is just tailoring the piece for me really.

Is it in the rules you can not compete twice? Could be this years twist They have previous contestants back for the Festive Special and some who have done the Festive or Children in Need specials have then been full contestants later maybe having seen how they went. I could see someone who had to pull out during the series maybe returning a few years later but it hasn't happened yet. I wouldn't have an issue with this personally but I'd not want returning contestants who had been voted off before to be given another go unless they did some sort of "All Star" series like they did with the Jungle. Oh that is a good one. Champion of Champions series

Happy Days, starring Maxine Peake, at the Royal Exchange, back in 2018. The whole thing was utterly tedious - there was 5 minutes of plot, which then just got repeated ad infinitum for the rest of the first half. I suppose that's probably the point, but I couldn't stand any more of sitting there, watching the stage revolve slowly, as lights followed it around, meaning you got your retinas blasted into blindness about once every 90 seconds. Headache-inducing. Funnily, I’ve walked out of this play because although I had seen it more than once before, it was unbearable. Must have hit a nerve. I saw the Juliet Stevenson version at the Young Vic. Couple behind me talking before the show about how they loved the Fonz, great Saturday evening tv. They, unsurprisingly, never made the second half

Have they ever had a couple on the show at the same time? Two people in a relationship. I think that would be a twist

Hobsons Choice with Martin Shaw. But this was more due to my mood as it was the day before my Dads funeral and I wasn't in the mood for theatre. Just shouldn't have gone.
And what was that play with Suranne Jones at Haymarket theatre. Really like Jason Watkins and Nina Sosanya but couldn't take to the subject matter and Suranne Jones wailing

I’ve had a week of theatre this week as it’s been my summer week in London and been rather impressed by behaviour this week - however today during this afternoon’s performance of Mrs Doubtfire I was continuously felt up by the man next to me. (For context, I’m a big lad - but luckily for him I’m quite timid). At first I thought nothing of it as we were cramped in the seats and our legs were next to each other, but as the fingers of his hand on his knee wiggled more and more I got a little bit suspicious but didn’t think it was deliberate. Then in the second half, his hand moved down to under the arm rest and he kept trying to get his fingers under the hem of my shorts and onto my thigh… If I hadn’t used my arms as a barrier I wonder if he’d have tried to go further. As soon as the show was done I was up and running up the stairs to get out. What makes it worse, is that it wasn’t even his seat. He was meant to be the other side of the aisle, and when the guy who was meant to be sat in the seat came in, he thought we were together so offered to sit in this guy’s seat instead. I didn’t want to make a scene about it so tried to move my legs away as much as I could (which is not much in the Shaftesbury Grand Circle) and the ruddy binocular bracket thing made it near impossible for me at times. I found myself just trying to focus on the show as much as I could and try to make my arm barrier as strong as possible. Until the interval it just felt a bit accidental with the close confines so didn’t feel the need to say anything then and afterwards I just wanted to get away. But yeah, it wasn’t a nice experience and I hope it’s not a common occurance. Oh my, that is a terrible experience.

I didn't like this (at first). I love the characters and am invested in them and their fortunes. Then I was thinking what did I really want from this update? And what I wanted was the ending and nothing more. Got a bit dusty where I was watching. Beautiful way to finish

Saw someone try to bring in a pizza once. Thankfully they were stopped at the door, which they then blocked whilst dividing up said pizza into slices and handing them around. No point wasting the pizza. Did you get a slice?

I enjoyed 12 Angry Men at Birmingham. Pretty much word for word to the film. Play had an elderly Robert Vaughn as juror no. 9 and a couple of times he needed a prompt. This was the only time I noticed that it wasn't word for word to the film and it was really cleverly done as juror no. 6 would ask him a question or his opinion on something.

I would say good riddance to him and Dorries but I’m sure this just means they’ll both become full-time media-whores now. We’ll probably end up seeing more of them. Expect a multi-volume memoir/apologia from him. Also… Dame Patel and Sirs Rees-Mogg and Fabricant… 🤮 I wonder if TalkTV or GB News are going to sign him up? Still, something funny about Trump and Johnson getting legged on the same day

If you haven't seen it how can you say this? I watched the first 3 seasons which was more than enough to form an opinion on it and am currently on Ep 3 of season 4, which is once again just the same sh*t different season. If you find horrible people being horrible to other horrible people entertaining then good luck to you, but personally I find the whole thing a struggle and bore to get through as I literally have no interest in how these types of scumbags live. Episode 3 series 4 was same sh*t? Surely a stand out episode?
