I'm very happy to see Alexia is staying, I thought she was fantastic when I saw her in September, up there with Rachel Tucker for me. However whenever I go again, I agree, I will be timing it with the Fiyero holiday dates.

I spontaneously saw Wicked tonight to catch Alexia without realising it was the 17th birthday.
Alexia Khadime is one of the best Elphaba’s I’ve seen. What a portrayal, what a voice.
Really enjoyed it tonight, overall show seems to be in good shape actually. I’m sure they’ve been tweaking the sound, there was definitely some changes since I last saw it in January, not sure if anybody else feels the same?

I wish TodayTix was intuitive enough to know that I’ve already bought tickets at full price for later this week (from TodayTix) so it doesn’t need to rub it in my face that I could have got tickets for cheaper before I’ve even seen the show.
It must be doing pretty badly though, it feels like I get an alert or email every other day about this show.

Just gonna put it out there, I don't like Cynthia Erivo. She's a talent and has one hell of a voice- I've heard here live- she got three ovations and I've no doubt that she'll slay this role but there's something about her- I can't quite put my finger on it- maybe it's the way she holds herself, or comes across in interviews- but she just ain't my cup of tea. I agree, she lacks warmth on screen/stage. And yes, her personality and attitude doesn't help either. I agree with both of these posts. The casting of Elphaba and Glinda is kind of dampening my overall enthusiasm mixed in with it now being in two parts. I really want it to be great but I'm sceptical. I do like Ariana as well but her voice to me doesn't say Glinda? If anything I'd have thought she'd more an Elphaba.

What’s happened to Alexia and Lucy ? Didn’t take long for them to be absent, hope they are ok . I wonder if it might be covid? I think they are still testing regularly. Anyway I hope they’re both ok and get better soon!

This is an interesting topic as I’ve thought about it before too but never asked the question.
One thing I’ve always thought is during cast changes for example in Wicked when the super fans go crazy in key parts. I remember Rachel Tucker once saying she had to just trust herself and rely on her experience she was singing defying gravity in tune at her last show because she couldn’t hear herself or the music very well.

Seen them everywhere all week on the tube including some of the digital boards. They look great!

Really looking forward to hearing about this evening. I never caught Alexia last time so be interesting to see her on this run (but I really enjoyed her performance in Prince of Egypt).

Laura H was robbed. After her pretty much saving this contract I think it's unfair that they've offered the role elsewhere. I imagine they’ve gone with a safe bet. They know Laura can pull 8 shows a week out the bag week after week.

Laura Pick has been announced as Elphaba on the UK tour. Good on her, she’s very consistent and saved the show a number of times over the last year at short notice. I’m tempted to book as I haven’t seen her before.

I was there tonight, Charli Baptie was excellent! When did she last play the role? She pretty much carried the show… some of the other leads were ropey. I was there tonight as well. Charli was excellent given that she came back to emergency perform. I assume then all 4 Glinda covers are ill/ holiday. First time seeing Amy tonight. Was kind of hoping Nicola might be on but saw Laura was back so that definitely wasn’t happening. I enjoyed her portrayal. It wasn’t awful and it also wasn’t groundbreaking. Given that she’s been ill she held her own vocally I have to say. Don’t have anything really to say about Ryan. I’m looking forward to seeing Ross Harmon and hopefully want to catch him as Fiyero. I remember him from years ago from the little day seating circle from back in the day. What a full circle moment for him. I felt like it took Amy until act 2 to really warm up… she was kind of just saying the lines for most of act 1 and she was singing quite flat during both DG and NGD. But like you said she’s been ill so probably still recovering. I need to check the actresses name but Madame Morrible was fabulous!

Amy Webb is on as Elphaba tonight. Charli Baptie is also returning to play Glinda (24th January, 2023). I was there tonight, Charli Baptie was excellent! When did she last play the role? She pretty much carried the show… some of the other leads were ropey.

Bradley Jaden is joining Eastenders at the end of January which is an amazing opportunity for him. I was not a viewer of the show previously but I am now Not to be too off topic but I recently got back into Eastenders after 8 years of not watching it and it’s pretty good at the moment so not a bad time to start!

Having said, when she is on, she’s really fantastic as Elphaba. I saw her back in August and really enjoyed her portrayal.
I’m going tomorrow night so let’s see who’s on!

Laura Pick is returning to Wicked tonight to play the role of Elphaba (17th January, 2023). Amy Webb was scheduled to be on tonight but it appears she is off ill. Not sure why Laura Harrison or Nicola Espallardo are out. Damn I’m missing Laura Pick by a week!

I’m sad this show has closed. I saw it earlier last year and unfortunately didn’t get round to going again but I absolutely loved it. I don’t feel like it gets mentioned much but I think Anything Can Happen is one of the highlights of the show for me. I hope this show does come back to the West End eventually, I got used to it being a part of the Soho landscape.
I also think Charlie Stemp is rather handsome!

Aimee Fisher has returned to Wicked today to play the role of Nessa for both shows (7th January, 2023). It seems the winter bugs have really knocked out the cast! Laura on as Elphaba for both shows too.

I haven’t followed her career too closely but I think she was pretty consistent in Waitress? I think maybe Elphaba is just too much for her voice 8 times a week. I remember Louise Dearman was off quite a bit but it was never this much.
Who knows, there may be other reasons, don’t want to speculate too much.

I remember it did go to Leeds on the last tour, but wasn’t that a bit of a squeeze?

I’d be really disappointed if I got a no fly show and I’ve seen it quite a few times by now. Defying Gravity is the main reason I’ll pay to see this show time and time again. Flying is literally there in the name of the big song! I’m going next week on a TodayTix deal. Why would it be no fly - equipment not working, or actors not trained? Certainly equipment not working, I doubt they’d ever put somebody on who was not trained for the iconic moment of the show. Wasn’t there a period of time on the UK tour where it was broken for a week whilst they waited for a new part to arrive?

Sadly betting on Fiyero being Harry Styles at this rate Believe it or not, that rumour started 8 years ago. If it were him surely he’d have been signed up by now? I’d actually be really on board with this on paper… 😂

Will be fascinated if that's true because she is not a name that was mentioned when I was talking to someone in the casting team last week... They are really struggling to find a Fiyero Isn’t filming due to start next month (I might be wrong!)? Seems very late to still be searching for a Fiyero but I genuinely have no idea how these things work.

Agreed on Gina Beck being a wonderful Glinda. I saw her a few times in Wicked but there’s one that really stands out where I believe there were quite a few cast members off sick if I remember correctly but Gina felt like the glue holding it together. Gorgeous performance, gorgeous soprano.
Elphaba for me is Rachel Tucker, incredible every time I saw her, but it’s all very subjective, each to their own. I do remember being incredibly disappointed with Kerry’s second run though, money notes cut short, racing through lines with no real delivery, it was quite frustrating.

This is a more of a generic question but Mary Poppins comes to mind since it’s in the middle of Soho and since I was at Pride yesterday… how do the shows cope? There’s so many people and noise etc. can it heard from inside or am I underestimating the level of sound proofing?

I do feel bad for Lucie Jones that it hasn't worked out, by all accounts this was meant to be a very special time for her and it has sadly turned into a bit of a disaster. I wonder if she will stay for the rest of the contract? You are funny. 😂 I remember Louise Dearman calling out quite a bit, I’m sure Lucie will be there for her full contract, just like Louise was.

Another one here who is excited to see the new cast. I last saw the show with Nikki Bentley before Laura Pick took over so it has been a while (although granted, the pandemic in the middle!), but Lucy looks great and I'm looking forward to seeing her in the role. I hope she sounds as good as she looks.

Saw this for a second time last night, first was just before Rachel Tucker left and the pandemic hit. Seems to be in great shape and really enjoyed, it's a lovely uplifting show despite the subject matter.
Jenna Boyd, Mark Dugdale and Alice Fearn were all standouts, Me and the Sky really is a great song.

I saw this last night for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed it. Cast were on great form, I thought Zizi Strallen and Charlie Stemp worked so well together. I know there have been mentions of the how this production doesn’t compare to the original, but I loved the set, I thought it looked great. We didn’t have Petula Clark last night but I can’t seem to find out who we had instead.
It was a little annoying that some member did the audience a few rows behind couldn’t help but singing along to some of the most well known numbers but I managed to zone them out.
I feel like all my reviews are very positive at the moment but I think I’m just enjoying being swept away with the music and the stories after so long if not being able to see live theatre.

I saw this on Thursday evening for the first time and I really enjoyed it. I thought the staging was great and the way the ensemble were used was really interesting - I think this is probably the biggest 'production' I have seen since the pandemic too so perhaps that added to being swept up in the story overall.
Liam Tamne as Rameses was excellent I thought, what a gorgeous voice (and person!). As mentioned by AddisonMizner above, the orchestra sounded gorgeous. I would agree that perhaps the show is slightly too long and the only song I really remember is When You Believe which I already knew anyway.
That being said, very enjoyable evening at the theatre, and it is definitely a show I'd recommend to others if it hadn't been their last week that I saw it in. I hope they had a good send off last night.
