When I'm sat at the end of a row I expect to have to get up for a few people, but I got annoyed tonight with a group of about a dozen people who all arrived, drinks in hand, just as the show was about to start. However they didn't all arrive together but in twos and threes. Show starts and about 15 minutes in one of the guys gets back up, making the whole row move for him. OK I thought, maybe he didnt have time to use the loo before getting there and is now desperate. But no, he returned a few minutes later with a handful of drinks. I might have said something rude under my breath as he tried to get past. When they returned after the interval again leaving it to the last minute, all carrying drinks, I did mutter passively aggressively "oh I see you've all got your drinks this time" Exact same thing happened to me once, with everyone jumping up and down like yo yo's. I loudly said to my companion, "Oh dear, looks like we're in the row for the incontinent." Made no difference.

Not very inspiring. Thought the girls were better than the boys, but so far haven't spotted anyone I'd want to spend my money on.

If people can go commando and still do up their trouser zips then they're not going to worry about a few chest hairs. As a woman, I'm both laughing (hysterically) and crying (in imagined sympathy) at this!

I glanced at this and stupidly thought blimey! That's cutting it fine, it's only a couple of weeks away! Then realised it's a whole year. Think I'll wait.

I'd almost forgotten about this thread as it's slipped so far down, but felt I should mention the gorgeous lady (in her own eyes) in the audience of The Little Big Things a couple of weeks ago. She came in 'look at me', swishing her long blonde hair and making a futile attempt to pull down her impossibly short skirt. Having taken her seat, she made sure her skirt was so high you could almost see what she'd had for lunch, then set about sorting out her hair. Leaving it 'toss toss' loose clearly wasn't an option, as she first tried it in a top knot, which still wasn't satisfactory, so she opted then for a pony tail. All the time she was twisting in her seat, making sure that she could be 'seen'. When everything was finally to her satisfaction, she finished by taking off her shoes, only putting them back on in the interval so she could fetch wine. Granted she wasn't doing this during the show (apart from the bare feet), but it was attention seeking and distracting, as she was seated next to me.

I read the book some years ago and absolutely loved it. Don't think I can face this.

Caught Thursday's matinee. Whilst I'm not a Sondheim connoisseur, I thought this was wonderful. It was sheer class. I've seen several shows in a (for me) short space of time, and this is the one that has stayed with me. If I can get another discounted ticket later in the run, I will be back.

Oh, not the Lyric. Aspects of Love got my fastest standing ovation ever, purely because I couldn't bear to sit in my seat one second longer, I was so uncomfortable and just had to get up!

MJ leaves me stone cold, but I'm very excited at the idea of Some Like It Hot, one of my favourite movies.

I feel my age more and more these days. Another film I'm afraid I've never heard of. Thank goodness, I thought it was just me. I was about to confess I hadn't heard of it either.

Finally caught up with this today, courtesy of the lottery, in Row D in the 'bouncy' seats! Fully agree it's fun. I remember seeing Crazy For You some years ago and being totally bored. I wasn't keen to go originally, but this afternoon I went for two reasons: one, to see Charlie Stemp, and two, a friend wanted to see it. This time I thoroughly enjoyed it, and it was a delight to be so close up to those dancing feet (I know, wrong show!).

Apparently people trying to get in on the second act opener but there's a guard there. I wouldn't be surprised if, by the time I go in November, they've scrapped the second act opener as it stands, and re-choreographed it (if you can call it that) in some way.

I'm assuming Joe walks up the steps beside the Coal Hole to the Strand? Just wondering how he will manage this whilst still singing when the steps are choc a bloc with drinkers spilling out of the pub? I've walked up there a few times and it can be manic.

As a massive fan of My Fair Lady, I was at today's matinee and absolutely loved it. Didn't miss the music at all (well, maybe, now and again, thoughts of a song crept in!). Five stars.

There's more: Well done to #3rdcover Connor Ewing ( @connorewingldn ) who briefly played The Phantom while Michael was getting ready! And: Well done to Eve Shanu-Wilson ( @eve_shanuwilson ) who took over the the role of Christine Daaé for act 2 of @phantomopera tonight! #1stcover All from West End Understudies on Twitter /X.

I was there this afternoon too!
If I could use just one word to sum it up - Joyous!
Having originally been seduced by the rave reviews of early posters, I went in with some trepidation having read comparisons on here with Dear Evan Hansen (which I loathed) and Come From Away (where I think I was the only person completely unmoved). While I can't remember a single tune, my feet were tapping along frequently and I enjoyed the poppy music. I was drawn in right from the start and laughed and, yes, misted up a few times. Mostly great performances and they all work their socks off. As I said above, it was joyous.
The only thing I'm not keen on is theatre in the round, as I'm very easily distracted by what might be going on in the seats on the other sides of the stage, but that's not the fault of the cast, it's a particular problem I have.
Would I go back? Probably, if a friend wanted me to go, but not again on my own. A good 4 stars though.

I'm not a particular fan of either of them, but just had a look. No queue, masses of seats left and stupid prices.

Seeing this next week. Looking forward to it, but won't consume too much liquid beforehand in case they take the interval away again!

I clicked on the Plymouth Theatre Royal link and it came up with '404 Oops, something went wrong'. I think I've subscribed ok though.

My email arrived 1 hour 15 mins after the noon 'deadline'. Still tickets available on the dates I'm looking at - front row stalls, or back of the upper circle.

It's selling terribly. For a show that has been hyped and plugged for ages, with some of the big theatre names in it, it's not good. The public either don't know enough about the show/cast or their not interested. This hasn’t been hyped at all. I bet no one outside of this board or showbizzy people are even aware of it happening. EP mentioned it on her show today.

John Owen Jones has just posted on Twitter / X that he is out for the rest of the run, due to an ongoing viral throat infection.

This was one of my favourite shows too. So glad I stuck with the memory and didn't book for this version.

I was thinking about this one, and have now booked on the strength of everyone's positive reports! Will be nice to discover a new theatre, too.

Thinking back to yesterday's matinee. Yes, I did love it and the glorious music, but it wasn't perfect. As others have said, Norm wasn't entirely up to scratch, with (by the sound of things) flubbed lyrics in every performance, but Celinde was fabulous. According to the blurb in the programme the little lad, Cian, had no musical theatre or vocal training prior to lockdown. After watching a recording of Phantom in 2021 he started singing songs from the show and asked to have singing lessons (although he has played Michael Banks in Poppins and Gavroche in Les Mis, but not sure when). Pretty impressive! Anyway, I'm so pleased I saw this, and also glad I was alone, so I could take it all in without distraction!
