Sat on the circle perch seats for Six there and they were great value. That's good to know. I'm hoping that there's a bit of room to stretch out - looking at the photos I'm hopeful. This used to be my local theatre but I can't say Ive noticed them before. The theatre Royal isn't very forgiving for us taller folk other than on the stalls; this was the only seat left there.

Ive just booked this for next week. Ive got one of the perch seats in the stalls. This is either going to be an absolute bargain or agony for a couple of hours. And that's not counting what's happening on stage!

Pretty sure we had Pheobe Waller Bridge a couple of rows behind us at sister act last night. She didn’t return after the interval.

I would also imagine that by getting a couple of fuller houses early on it gives the chance for word of mouth to generate bookings for later in the week.

Still my favourite ALW score, the 1996 recording is my go to, and rate the Lyceum production as one of my all time favourite theatre visits.

Hi, what time has this been finishing on tour? Might go ‘out out’ afterwards. Thanks If I remember correctly we were out between 9:30 and 9:40 on Friday night.

I’ve been tonight in Leeds and enjoyed the production more than I thought I would but not a patch on the 1991 palladium version. Absolutely loved Linzi who worked hard all night and looked to be having loads of fun. She was the only reason I booked and did not disappoint. A very good cast overall..
Jason was ok, although given the reaction of the audience around us he was clearly the best thing ever. He got away with overacting which is what the part needs.
Row behind was full of women who shrieked, hollered, sang along and had loud shrieky conversations whenever the music got louder, and of course at the interval got more alcohol because what they really needed was their inhibitions lowering. My right ear is ringing after the insanely loud whooping every time Jason moved any part of his body whatsoever. Hopefully he heard them repeatedly shouting “I love you Jason” and saw how quickly they left at the end to try and get to the stage door and made a quick exit for his own safety!

Loved Bring Him Home, thought the 2nd act in particular was stunning although I’ll agree about the medley. She was on top form tonight and seemed to be having a good time herself!

Out of interest, did anybody here see the original cast? How was Lisa Stokke? Saw the original cast in August 99 after queuing up for returns. I remember the cast being excellent, Lisa Stokke made a very good Sophie. I love her performance of I Have A Dream on the cast recording.

I suspect that Super Trouper will be added at some point when a sales boost is needed. It has been said that more songs have been recorded than are in the show. Out of interest has anyone been in one of the dance booths? I couldn’t tell if there was enough room for everyone to see properly if all in there chose to go to the front. Wouldn’t be a problem if you were all one group I guess but could be if mixing with others. You pay for the whole dance booth so you will only be with people in your group. No mixing of groups That’s really helpful, thank you.

Abba Voyage yesterday. The couple next to me decided to talk all the way through the entire show. Not just quiet whispers, but full on conversation, laughing , pointing then getting louder as the music got louder. Not entirely sure of the protocol here, is it theatre? Is it a concert? The Only time there was no conversation was when one of them went off to get more alcohol. The music got a lot louder a few songs in and I was so taken in by the show that eventually I was able to zone out but I can’t help but think that a night at the bar would have suited them better.

Absolutely brilliant tonight on Manchester. The cast were on top form and a superb atmosphere in the theatre. If you have tickets for Newcastle next week you are in for a treat.

I can well imagine The Jackson estate looking very closely at this with a view to creating something around Michael. It looked like MJ himself was looking at using 3d film for his “This Is It” concert series so this would be the next logical step after that.
What will be harder to replicate is the fact that with Abba being very much alive, it is their project , therefore avoiding any suspicion of a cash in. At least we know that how they look and what they “sing” is what the artists themselves have approved. Also as with everything, the more ubiquitous the use of the technology becomes the less it will dazzle. Future projects will need to up the game further.

At least the people / person who booked to see Gemma Collins will now get the chance to see what someone with actual talent playing the role looks like.

I personally liked the way they handled it in the NT / Drury lane version, where at the end Higgins says his slippers line and then they both laughed together. It felt like it was the start of him treating her with more respect, and a lot less arrogance than the film version.

A lifelong fan, and old enough to remember the songs first time around. This promises to be something special. I have absolute faith in the fact that the four of them would not do anything which tarnishes their legacy!

Whether by design or due to the malfunctioning stage, I did appreciate that the performances relies less on visual effects than the past couple of years - I always feel to be fair the footage should be of what you would see if you were there rather than overlays. But what a poor set of songs. Portugal stood out for me, but that was more because it was straightforward rather than because it’s a great song.

I’ve just booked for Manchester on the strength of this. I’ve seen the original team do Peter Pan and Magic, but not this one. It makes it well worth the return visit.

Bjorn has spoken publicly about how much he dislikes Summer Night City, but I’d love to see it on the set list, it’s one of my favourites.

I saw the first incarnation and the West Yorkshire Playhouse version and thought the story telling was better in the latter, the staging better in the former.
It could work up to a point if it was reordered. If you take the original version it’s basically four quarters. Part 1 is Martin in Artigat - leaves at the end of this section part 2 is Arnaud in Artigat claiming to be Martin, meets Bertrande, falls in love etc. part 3 the trial, ending with Martin’s return part 4 the aftermath / finale
Reorder it to 1. Arnaud in Artigat claiming to be Martin 2 The trial. Crucially we won’t yet have met Martin who would arrive at the end of act one. 3. Act 2 - Martin’s evidence - the original first section presented as a flashback ( like the Leeds version) 4. The aftermath/ finale This would at least keep the ambiguity, and the musical structure of each section could remain similar.

If it has gone back to all the places where it sold well last time, then maybe everyone who wants to see it has done so. Some of these touring shows are coming round just a bit too often

“Stage door makes a person famous”. Really? Not their acting or the roles they get? Someone is confusing talent with social media “celebrity”.
